    Feeding Timetables

I usually throw them a little food morning and evening, but the exact times and what they get is very variable. I'll randomly do a fast day or only feed them once per day sometimes too.

    Weird Dream Thing

It's sleep paralysis, not actually paranormal at all. It happens when the 'switch' in your brain that keeps you from moving and hurting yourself while dreaming doesn't turn off at the right time, and you're essentially paralyzed for a few moments.

    Sick Red Devil Cichlid

Wow, he's gorgeous. Have you checked for a mouth injury of some sort that would cause him to spit out food? That's the only thing I can think of, hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along soon to help you.

    Tattoo's Whos Got What

I have the tribal Aquarius sign below, on the right side of my chest about three inches below my clavicle. sadly, it's the only one I have so far as I've been unemployed for far too long and haven't had the money. But I'll share my plans with you.... (prepare for an insanely long post...) This...

    Decisions, Decisions...

I will look into some smaller cichlids like you said, Wills. The checkerboards are very cute. I checked around and no place near me has either of the fish you mentioned, OldMan47. They are neat though! I live about 1/2 hour from That Fish Place, That Pet Place, so that's where I was planning...

    Massive Die-Off

Ammonia and Nitrite should be zero, which would be why your fish are suddenly dying. If you lost two goldfish and 50 or so guppies and still have 'lot's', then I'd say your problem is massive overstocking.

    Moss Wall

As title, could I make a Moss Wall with Riccia instead? I'm thinking it would grow much faster and be a bit of a different look... Plus I have quite a bit of rapidly multiplying Riccia, and only a little Java Moss.

    Decisions, Decisions...

I received a 10 gallon tank for my birthday in late January, seeded the filter material in a mature tank, put Seachem Black Fluorite as the substrate, added a bunch of plants, and popped in a barb from another tank to keep the filter bacteria alive. The stocking I've been planning is: 2...

    Golden Barb

You need to give people some time to answer. Jeez. What are your water parameters? Also you'd get more/faster responses if you put this in Emergencies.

What Is This/are We Doing Enough?

Oh lord, that poor poor baby. Seeing that makes me want to cry. Prime is useless. It is just water, essentially. Please follow the advice of the others and READ that article that FHM sent you! If you are too impatient to cycle your tank, then this is not the hobby for you!!

Help! I Think I Have A Bad Problem.

For shrimp, don't get bamboo or wood shrimp. These need a strong current to feed properly and would be unhappy and likely die quickly without such. They're large and brown and have fans instead of claws.
  14. Kitty_Nin

    Bubble Nests

A lot of them do it. It could be warmer water, lower water, more plants, or the addition of tannins to the tank, or it could be for no reason at all. It's just instinct.

    The Whole "balanced" Thing...

You mean something like this? I'd only do it with snails and shrimp. WCMMs are very active fish and I can't help but think they'd be miserable in a vase. Some rarer fish, like the smallest fish in the world would be quite happy there I would imagine, but good luck finding them.

    Catnapper!

Oh my that is so weird... We have a cat named One Eyed Jack! A beautiful Siamese mix who showed up several christmases ago with one big beautiful eye... but he's far from feral, he's total lovebunny... likes to cuddle with my pet rabbit and dog. I'd set off all the traps and leave notes in...

    New Mini Microtope

These are beautiful... really rather zen. I wanna make one now :D What kind of shrimp are those? Could I just use ghosties? And how do you feed the shrimp? (Sorry for all the questions, but these are beautiful and I have a bunch of pretty bottles that would look fantastic like this.)

    Tail Biting Update

How is your heater situated? Vertical? Horizontal? Diagonal? Maybe you've already done all this, but maybe try scooting the heater down or changing the direction you have it in. Good luck, I'm starting to suspect that my boy has become a tailbiter as well, but I've yet to catch him in the act.

    Underwater Lassies?

A lot of snails and some shrimp will make a run for it if the water isn't to their liking. I have no idea why they do it, I just have heard that they do.

Help! I Think I Have A Bad Problem.

Assaye and Curiosity will steer you right! I just wanted to say kudos to you for trying to do right by your fish. Most people don't care/get defensive, and then wonder why their fish die every 2 weeks.

What Do You Think Of My Dragon?

LilyRose, just to let you know White Clouds are cool water fish and will not appreciate betta temperatures at all.... Also they're very active and all their zipping around might stress him out. Perhaps try a bottom dweller? Your tank is looking great with all plants and hides, though I would...

    Easy To Breed Fish

I personally can't keep mollies alive to save my life, for whatever reason. I've heard peacock gudgeons and badis badis are fairly easy to breed. Livebearers are almost too easy :/ the trick is getting the to not have tons of babies!

    Best Way To Cut Resin

My mom bought me a beautiful seated Buddha resin aquarium decoration for my new tank... The only problem is that it is about 3" too tall for my tank. What Is This Piece Of Equipment?

I think it's for freezing fish food. If you put the fish food in a low, flat container, put it in that contraption, and freeze it.. when it comes out it will be easy to snap apart. If he's putting it in some sort of tupperware, then that would explain why the two sides are open. Though I think...

    Cat Squinting Right Eye?

He probably just has a hair or something in it. My cat does this occasionally too. It should work it's way out on its own, but if he's still doing it in a day or so, then consider taking him to the vet to be sure he hasn't injured it.

Thanks Wills! I didn't realize they're such active little wormies. Will def. Skip them then. I used AquaAdvisor and am Going to go with: 2 Peacock Gudgeons 6 Pygmy Cories 3 Sparkling Gourami That should fill all levels of the tank nicely without being overstocked.

    What's The Best Sand

As title, what is the best sand or substrate for cories (pygmy, specifically) and plants as well? I've never used sand before but am planning to use it in my new 10 gallon when I get it set up, and was looking for recommendations. I'm more fond of darker substrates, I feel my fish look better...
