well, for the first time ever, im having to take a fish back, my red tail shark is going back, he's too aggresive for my tank, and any fish that has a go at my betta, has to go! Does anyone have any suggestions about what to get in replacement??? thanks!! :fun:

maybe you could try getting some more plants so that the gouramis/betta can hide for a while?? You could try that first and then if that doesnt work, try the putting them in separate bowls. My betta and gourami get on fine, maybe its because my betta knows that the gourami is twice the size of...

ive got a red fin shark and he's just taken a chunk outtta my bettas fins and took some scales off him, he's going back to the shop on saturday. :/

My other mum (other halfs mother) has got one of those, when i first saw him i thought his eyes had been eaten!! imagine how stooooopid i felt when i found out it was suppose to be like that!! :/

i live in derbyshire, quite a away from you, i wouldnt expect you to come to my pets @home lol, i think it was plastic, not sure,its retangle shape? but it looks just right to put a betta in, you get some plants with it and everything, fish food, declorinater stuffand like i said...

anyone correct me if im wrong but i thought bettas loved planted tanks? they like lying on top of big leaf'd plants, i know that. i think they'll be fine, and im sure that they'll love having loads of plants :thumbs: :D My betta is in a planted tank, so he can hide away and chill out if any...

i live in the uk too and i was thinking of putting my betta in his own little tank, and i saw that in pets @ home they have little tropical fish starter kits with like, a heater, gravel and that kinda of stuff in, they're probably about 1 or 2 gallons, so big enough, and i think they're about...

i think im going to try topping up my tank with some rainwater, shouldnt be too bad, i live on a hill, and luckly it looks like its going to rain!! :)

i just pick some out of my got mine straight out of the garden, gave them a scrub with some water and then boiled them. didnt do any harm to my tank. :D

does anyone know why my red fin shark is changing colour? His fins are suppose to be red right? and now they are turning black..any ideas?

suppose i could do some switching and put the bad nipper fish i the net....lol. im going to leave the betta in the net for a while and let some of his fins grow back, then i'll put him back in with the other fish and if that silly molly keeps eatting him, he can go back to the shop!! before the...

Pearl gouramis are great too. i agree! Golden gouramis are lovely, but mine is a bit of a nutter, likes to do his own little mad things! Good luck with your gourami! :thumbs:

You could be nice to your clown loach and get him some buddies, they're suppose to be kept in a group now on there own! :)

Ive moved my betta into a breeding net type thing, it looks okay, ive put him in here because one of the other fish(okay its the molly) has been having a go at his fins, will he be okay on his own in his little net? :thumbs:

i leave all my filters and airstones on all the time and i turn my light on when i wake up (6:30am) until i go to bed (between 9:00pm and 10:30pm) so my fish are awake all the time i am!

awww babies! I think you should use the treatment but in half doses, i dont think it affects the catfish,Im pretty sure it does affect babies either.but i could be wrong, someone whos clever might know a little more about treating whilst you've got fry........ Congrats with the fry ne way!!! :D...

If you say where you're from someone will be able to help you about where to buy it from. you wash sand with water, put the sand in a pillow case and rinse it with water!! hth :)

danios dont harrass betta, everyone i have spoken to about this agrees. I have never had a danio touch my betta. Also i havent had any problems with gouramis, you should just keep an eye on them until they make friends. I agree with tempestuousfury, you should get rid of the goldfish because...

i like my normal filters, you can just hide with a plant. And its really funny when the fish are playing and go infront of the bit where the water comes out, and they go flying off! :D

when someone said to me that you should crush them i was like :sick: . i could do that.. i just brought some clown loaches and i was fine. im sure you'll be okay, i managed to get most of mine out when i was cleaning. I'm sure they'll help keep the tank a bit cleaner. :)

Well you can either buy some clown loaches which will eat them (Thats if you have room) or you can buy some chemical stuff, i saw some in my lfs the other day. I dont think they do much harm, just that they would contribute to waste in the tank. Another option is crushing them against the glass...

They get fed once a day and its only fish flakes, and once a week they get bloodworm. I think it might be the catfish pellet things that i put in for my catfish. maybe he's eating them and its making him fat? i'll try the pea thing tonight. And ive stopped feeding the catfish pellets. and he...

yeah mine are fine too. never seen either the betta going for the danios or the other way round. i suppose putting a gourami in with it would be silly but, you know, that why i went and did just that, i havent had any problems...

you'll be fine! Just incase tho make sure there are some hiding places for the little fish. i know you'll be okay, because i have all the fish you mentioned!! My betta is red aswell! Good luck with the new fish ne way!
