Clown loaches can get up to 12" in the wild, but they have only been reported to be up to 6"-8" in captivity. I think it's due to their very slow growth. They seem to sprout when they are babies, until they reach up to about 3", from that point on, they seem to grow very slow. Clown loaches would be the best to rid snails. You can use other loaches, but they tend to be fin nippers. Also, puffers wil too, since they have sharp teeth to break through the shells, but will also be aggressive. I believe they also prefer a higher amount of salt in the water, almost brackish.
Unfortunately, in a 10 gallon tank, you could run into being overstocked very quickly. The normaly guide is 1" for each 1 gallon, which applies to fish under 3". Fish larger than that, though unwritten but slowly being followed, should follow the Marine guidelines of 1" of fish for each 5 gallons of water.
