If any of you remember, a month or something ago the female betta in the azoo tank got very sick - had fin rot and ich. I didn't think I'd be able to save her, but did, with Maracide and Tetracycline.

Now, just a few days ago, I noticed a spot of white fluffies. :X Gave her Melafix and salt, cleaned the tank well, and the next day there was another spot. Overnight that one doubled in size and now stretches probably 2/3 of the depth of one part of her body. It's not very wide, but gross. Of course I freaked, and added Bettamax... did a ton of research, and today bought Maroxy (fungus meds).

It looks like some of the fungus on the larger spot is coming off already, but now for the awful part.... she has no scales underneath. :-( It's all pink and raw looking, and I have no idea what to do. Is there anything I should do besides my usual - clean water, salt, melafix, and stress coat? After all the poor baby has been through, I want to keep her alive.

Good news? I decided to buy my sister a betta for her birthday. She has said she wanted a red one to "match her room" ... but I know she takes good care of her fish, as she has another betta that's 4 - 5 years old. Anyways, he caught my eye at Petsmart cuz of his purty tail - it's like a veiltail, but shorter and rounder. He's just the color she wanted to, bright red with some blue highlights. I wuv him... wish I was keeping him. :p He has a lovely bowl that I set up, and he's having a great time exploring. I'll let you all know how she likes him (I think she'll get him Saturday). :)

I would say do your usual julie. If the fungus came off and it's raw underneath, that's the first step in getting rid of it. I'd say just try to keep the water soothing and use the melafix with stress coat. It sounds good to me. Do you have any methylene blue? A little bit will help prevent more fungus growth. I'm not sure I would mix anything with melafix, tho. :/ You could treat the wounds for now and maybe later add some to tint the water a little until she's 100%. Just a thought. :) I use methylene blue after I treat fungus to make sure it stays gone.

That betta sounds great! My favorite color is red with the blue in it. You're such a sweet sister.

hope you betta gets better (nearly put betta again!) Ive got a red betta with blue bits in, and he's just had a little run in with the shark and his new fins are growing back dark blue!!!
ps if you want to see him click on the link in my sig.

Ack ack, the exact same think happened to one of my angelfish a while back. I treated him with every medicine I knew of, but he ended up dying anyway :(
He'd get a sort of fungus on his body, then after I treated him, it would peel away (along with the scales underneath.)
