Yah My Albinos Have Spawned!

Well the albinos have been spawning, but when i'm at work, and see empty eggs on the glass on my return... :grr:

I did manage to save 5 that was hidden in the corner, they hatched yesterday, but very difficult to see on the sand

I can only spot one albino fry atm,so difficult to see against the sand

They spawned again whilst i was at work,i found quite a few eggs on the circulation pumps of all places  but some looked infertile, whether the heat off the pump caused them to turn...,looks like the rest got munched, tell tell signs of eggs shells everywhere!!

Only 1 survived that spawn , i had problems with the filter that messed the water quality up...

But they were back on track a few days ago and spawned, more got eaten than saved  , the the net tipped in the fry tank,so have eggs floating around, hopefully they'll start hatching tomorrow :good:

30 or so little wrigglers tonight,i just hope the larger fry don't munch the new fry....

How's this coming along Harle? I'm enjoying reading through your posts again as I build up the excitement to order everything for my new tank

:good: very nice. i am trying to start breeding albino corys to, so if anyone could give some tips, that would be great!

Thanks :)

Good luck with your eggs :good:

These hatched and because i had them in a breeding trap not a breeding net they got out and ended up lunch...

But anyway i checked on my tank earlier and found alot more eggs, so gonna get a net & hopefully some will survive this time. :)

Sorry to hijack, but can corys hold their own with a bolivian ram? I have a ten gallon with 6 serpae tetras and a bolivian ans was thinking of adding 2 albino's.

10 gallon is too small for large corys like albinos and your bolivian rams need to be moved to a bigger tank too, 20 gals minimum for a pair really, else they will grow stunted. Serpae tetras are bordering on the edge of being to big too.

bolivian rams are not agressive, but in a 10 gal, if they pair up and breed, they might kill everything in it (assuming you have a male and female.)

you need at least 4 or 5 to breed corys. either 3 males and 1 female or 1 female and 4 males.

you need 4 or 5 albinos to breed. 1 female and 3 or 4 males.

I agree with tizer above, you're tank is too small to house albinos as well, they can get up to 3 inches in size, and it'll be unkind to just keep 2 of them, has they're shoaling fish.

Corys will bred with no probs has a solo pair, although best to have minimum of 5/6 in a group.ideally 2 males to 1 female will be fine.
