Yah My Albinos Have Spawned!

well, I've got wrigglers alright - just of the wrong fish variety

My last remaining female guppy is dropping as I type. I wonder how many there will be this time!!!

they're going nuts tonight!
I fed the others some frozen daphnia (the cories don't mind it but it's not their favourite) and I pushed a frozen block of blood worms into the substrate hopefully just for cories. The platies got some of it but the cories got the majority now they're going mental. I think I've just seen the guppy eat an egg but I can't be certain. I've given them some peas to distract them but I've discovered the cories like peas aswell!! It's a bit mad in my tank tonight :hyper:

I've discovered a white spot outbreak aswell - doesn't seem to be bothering them that much. There is just one cory flashing a bit.

If they spawn with meds in the tank will it be bad for any eggs? I'm not expecting eggs but it would be good to know if Protozin can affect spawning

Not sure about eggs and meds at the same time, thankfully i dont need to use meds ( touch wood).

Make sure your 100% certain that they have whitespot before adding any meds, meds can sometimes stress fish out and cause the water stats to go weird, some meds do wipe out some good bacteria in your filter.

Peas are good for fish, helps clear them out so to speak

Here's an update of fast growing fry, they've had a growth spurt in the last few days  :hey:

And heres another short vid,you can just make out the week old youngsters, flitting around the edges :)

wow! they're really doing well Harlequins

I definitely had a whitespot outbreak. One of my peppered cories was driving itself crazing flashing on the substrate. The poor platies were all really lethargic aswell. I had one doing headstands - she's sorting herself out now though. I always use Waterlife meds (learned on here that they're a good one to use) so I know my filter is okay. The final dose goes in tomorrow and I turned my heater up to 28 to speed things up a bit.

I've stopped prompting the cories to breed while this is going on. I'm still rotating their choice in food but I don't think anything will happen with a temp of 28 degrees - at least I hope not. I want them to be well before I even try and breed them.

I did wonder if the whitespot was caused by the cold water changes? It was my male guppy that showed signs first and the platies just seemed really stressed. I read that stress can bring on whitespot.

Anyway, loving the vids and I'll let ya know if I ever get the cories to do the deed lol

Thanks :)

I never had a problem with whitespot & cold water changes....

Just be careful with the temperature that high,it may stress the corys out, they dont tolerate it too much, especially the peppers who prefer cooler waters...

I've been keeping a close eye on the cories as I knew they don't like it too warm. They seem okay, not as active but not hiding out more than normal or anything.

I'll be dropping them temp to 26 on Wednesday or Thursday then I'll drop it back to 24/25 on Friday/Saturday when I do a large water change. Hopefully it'll be the last I see of illness for a while.

:look:

I'll be glad to get the apple snail back in as I hate him being in my fry tank - paranoid about ammonia. The trumpet snail is in there too but he seems to like it in there! I've seen more of him moving around in the last few days than I've ever seen

Good luck , i hope you get rid of the whitespot :good:

- Well the albino's done another short spawn this morning...i had to go out, so my gourami had snacked on most of the eggs before i returned an hour later , i did manage to save around 10 that she missed

The others are still doing well :) - around 34 ish older(4 wk old) youngsters, well if they kept still long enough i'd be able to count them  and around 20 x 1 wk old fry that i can see...

well I've dropped my temp back down to about 26 today after the whitespot outbreak and fed them bloodworm ... my cories are seriously active! Fingers crossed :look:

nothing happening in egg laying department, but they were still really active this morning.

I'm still waiting :/

I need to do a big water change so maybe that might help ... I'm also thinking about adding another couple of peppered as I think the three I have are all girls

Good time to do a w/c with all the rain we been having... rainy seasons can spur them into breeding :)

maybe I should put them outside!! It's raining again here ... so sick of it now
