Maggie, our dog for fifteen years, died in 2021. It was a painful loss. Well we finally decided to get a new puppy. We pick her up on March 23. She was born on January 30th. Here’s a pic of Chloe.

Chloe is beautiful. She'll spend a while on a trail of destruction (at 11 months, my Mabel is just starting to ease up) and you'll love her.

Mine is also 11 months and is also just starting to ease up 😂

First attempt at a weightless senko texas rig... I butchered the rubber lure pretty badly, but yah lol

Fishing in february? I wish...
It's warming up a bit... People have been catching large mouth, stripers, red drum, and some spotted trout.
Just trying to figure out what the fish are wanting exactly

Tight lines

Blardy chilly here, and with the wind it’s even colder. Have decided I’m a fair weather fisherman so will be another month before I’m out.

Just got back from a stripped down version of Eugene Onegin by a regional opera company. Yuk!

Anyone else have days when nothing goes right? This morning I made cushion cover #5. It took me twice as long as all the others as I kept making silly mistakes and having to unpick things and redo them. Then the bank statement arrived and cannot make their end balance agree with my book. Luckily they say there's more in there than I think we have........

The reason I keep my accounts in a book dates back 40-ish years when banks said you have to keep a balance of at least £100 or you pay bank charges. No internet banking/apps or even ATMs back then so I needed to make sure we didn't drop below £100, and I've kept on doing it ever since.

Everyday I have “one of those days “😄

There were two items in my book which hadn't cleared - spent the same day as the statement - and I took those into account. Everything else is both in the book and on the statement.
I always check every item on the statement. Several years ago, a cheque number appeared twice with different amounts. The real one was the gas bill which I paid at the bank so I had a gas bill with a bank stamp on it to prove which was the correct entry. When I queried it, they found the other cheque belonging to a different account and gave us the money back. Ever since then, I go through every item on the statement. I should add that this happened before utility companies used direct debits and before internet banking but once bitten twice shy.

I prefer the bank to say we have more than we think rather than the other way round :) It's the joint account for me and my husband and it's often the other way - less than the book says - and then when I ask he says there are receipts still in his pocket which he forgot to give me

(Or things I bought on-line and forgot to write up )

Since I have been using and have decided to stay with Omaha Steaks on-line store for the majority of my groceries it was time to figure out how best to use them to my advantage. ;) Did the numbers today. I don't cheat but, if their 'store' allows, it it isn't cheating. It is just due diligence.

First I need to join their 'Steak Lovers Club' at a cost of $39.00 USD/year which is only $3.25/month. Without this there is a minimum purchase of $159 USD for free shipping and something free which isn't really a big factor but comes into play. Joining the club will drop the minimum order to zero and the cost of purchase of $159.00 USD for free shipping and the free item drops to $80.00 USD. They also 'award' points on each order and with the club the points are doubled. These points can be used as a discount on future orders.

Now comes the magic... ;) Actually I'm pretty good at getting the best deals. Every week I get 2-3 emails from them with $30.00 USD coupons. So now that I will have no minimum purchase and only need to order $80.00 USD for the free shipping and free item it makes no sense to order once a month. Ordering once a month is done. I will order at least twice a month and possibly every week but will try twice at first to be sure there is no restriction as to how many coupons I can use in a month. This way I can use a $30.00 USD off coupon 2 or 4 times a month. This will give me a coupon discount of $60.00-$120.00 USD a month instead of $30.00 USD. Also I will get 2-4 free items instead of one. Let's say that I'm spending $320.00 USD/month with them without using a coupon. If it works out and I go all the way to 4 orders per month that amount drops to $$200.00 USD per month due to the coupons and I get 4 free items instead of 1. The free items are not trivial. Sometimes it is 4-8 free ground filet Mignon burgers which are REALLY good. Right now it seems to be either 6 Philly cheese steak sandwiches or a 2.5 pound boneless country style ham. I can literally get more groceries for well over $100.00 USD locally.

First experiment with this will be tomorrow when my Social Security and military pension hits my bank.
