What are you doing today?

Quite remarkable really.

11 Soviet/Russian leaders (since and including Stalin)
15 UK Prime Ministers
12 Canadian Prime Ministers
14 US Presidents

And that is just the tip of a very large iceberg of country leaders that Queen Elizabeth II met in her 70 years as Monarch.

Quite simply she was a once in a lifetime Monarch, the likes of which will never be seen or experienced again.

I was sent this sketch by a friend of mine in the US......the Queen, her beloved Philip and one of their Corgi's reunited...and it totally and unashamedly got to me

@Colin_T will be happy I have just water changed my tank, I have flipping duck weed growing in the tank, so have spent an hour trying to get rid of it. Where does that stuff come from?
Kind of like Colin trying to get rid of the bugs in his apartment

She lived an incredible and fulfilling life. She has done a lot and has seen a lot. Very hard to see one of the world's most respected women gone. The loss is I'm sure unbearable for a lot of people around the world

The changes during Elizabeth's reign are pretty amazing. When you consider the power Britain was when she took on her role, as a colonial empire and major force in the world, and the rapid tumble that followed - I don't think there has been a British monarch who ceremonially presided over such a radical change in fortunes before. It's been quite something to watch.

When I was a kid, til about grade 3, they had her portrait in my Canadian classroom, and we sang God Save the Queen every morning. Yesterday, the press had to remind people that she was our legal head of state and wasn't just a celebrity, and that Charles will be on our money.

We live in a world where things change very quickly, even if we don't really see it while it's happening. It's going to be very hard to market Charles, and I'm curious to see how that will play out.

In the meantime, this loss is hard on a lot of people. She was a symbol of a kind of stability. Hang in there.

To think she was the one who pushed hardest for her Coronation to be televised against the wishes of many of her peers and contemporaries within the Royal Family

She saw in the jet age, the space age and the digital age...embracing them all and making the effort to research what they were all about and who was involved. Not many take the time to do that thesedays. Much of it is taken for granted. She was very much a "hands on" Monarch, never satisfied with being told how something is done, she wanted to actually have a go at it too.

Charles will, as you rightly say, be a hard to market King. Much of it stemming from his meddling in things that certain quarters think he should leave well alone...and, inevitably, Diana and Camilla. It has taken a very long time for alot of people to accept Camilla and only when granted Queen Consort by the Queen a few months ago was she seen to have finally been accepted into "The Firm" fully....if not entirely into the hearts and minds of British and foreign people who have a long memory of 25 years ago. It is also poignant to remember that the 25th anniversary of Diana's death was only a few days ago, so there is still some harboured resentment towards both Charles and Camilla in places.

With Charles being 73 years old, it goes without saying that his tenure as King could well be very limited. As a result there are some loud voices who feel that given his age (and his past mistakes of judgement) he should step aside and allow William to become King instead. Youthful and popular, along with Kate, they would possibly be seen as more relateable to the masses than the older Statesman of Charles...William garners more respect and admiration than Charles too.

One thing that is certain. There will never be another Monarch like Elizabeth has been, not in this lifetime or in future generations. She was one of a kind and has left a very large void behind that possibly Charles will never be able to fill.

Today, you guessed it, I'm singing with little kids! Mrs. Badger and theLavenderBadger are out of town, so I'm baching it this evening. Might go out and try to ambush a whitetail... Or maybe I'll just stay home and watch a movie with explosions.

If it was me. Watch a movie with explosions. Cause my mom doesn't like it and my brother... Well he's a character
