What are you doing today?

I have been awake for nearly 36 hours straight. Body is tired but mind is staying up.

My new (1 month old) computer monitor has crapped itself. There are lots of fine grey lines all over the screen.

I got 4 computers and the only one that works properly is my Pentium 4 I bought 20 years ago but it runs Win XP and can't surf the net. I have 2 new monitors here and both have pooped themself in a matter of months and the only monitor that works is my 20 year old LCD flat screen thing that heats up the room.

I killed a heap of bugs today just sitting in my chair trying to sleep.

Brain not good. Brain need sleep or body fall down and can't get up. :(

what about the warranty?

I just had a tech fixing the fibre optic internet outside on the pole. I keep losing my feed, and resets aren't doing it. I had to clear the whole day because the appointments are taken from 8Am to 5PM. But he came early as he had staged the outdoor jobs for before the expected rain was due. So I have a free day now, with a high of 22c and no rain til the afternoon. Maybe I'll breed a fish.

Every once in a while I see people here using the old fahrenheit system. We changed to celsius when I was in my early teens, and my last connection to fahrenheit was old aquarium thermometers. Once I went digital, the translation skills subsided. I have now decided you're all bad people in an afterlife, and 86c is what you live in. @Colin_T in Perth summers clearly has found himself in the claws of a vengeful cat god.

Hand carving a spoon from black walnut today in the screened in room listening to the rain fall. Up to this point it's just been with a hatchet.

Careful with walnut. That wood, if breathed in can be very deadly I've heard...

Really? Never heard that before
Yah. If it gets in your lungs it's very bad. I think it has to do with walnut wood being able to expand a lot more than others and when inhaled it can kill a person.

you might try using a new monitor cable with it.

Ok I googled it.
I thought this was the reason but I didn't want to say something REALLY bad...
So walnut wood has a poison known as juglone.
And it can cause long term lung issues.
But if your lucky it's just short term irritants inside you.
But I think it can also expand.
It's different for different people some people experience issues and others don't but it is know that walnut has that poison so it's best to mask up to reduce the amount inhaled

Lots of woods are toxic if inhaled. It's really only an issue when sanding. If you're breathing in the chunks that are coming off with a hatchet, you're doing it wrong.

Even with non-toxic woods, breathing the sawdust still won't do your lungs any good. So when you get to sanding, work in a well-ventilated room and/or wear a mask. Definitely wear a mask if you're using any type of power sander.

[edited because I really should read the original post before responding!]

Gosh I could really use some spoons right about now
