Lib / Lab may not have a majority in the house but they could still rule as Labour still have a big say I believe...it wouldn't be right for 2nd and 3rd place to have that privilege in my opinion though...

The only joining of parties to give a majority would be conservative and lib dem, but their party lines just don't mix well at all

It's a right mess that's for sure :)

The pound is falling against a lot of currencies including the Euro, now thats bad. Things have got worse now for us in the UK. Lets hope we can get out of this mess, as it is I think the country is now worse off than we were 24 hours ago.

This is why I voted conservative, not because I believe in the manifesto, to be honest I prefer the Lib Dem one, but because we really didn't want a hung parliament...I wonder if we'll hear anything from the IMF soon...

You know what?

I think a lib dem and labour mix would be perfect. If you combine the best bits of the 2 then you got my favourite party.

The annoying thing is how many people voted conservative just to get rid of labour. Not because they wanted conservative in power.

I can tell that because my safe seat for lib dems went to the Tories.

I'm just waiting for things here to start falling apart.

Yes conservative for me as well, I have voted Lib Dem before but I also did not want to see a hung parliament thats why I went with Conservative as Lib Dem had no chance of winning out right.

The thing is, they did. Before all the scares started about a hung parliament, they had as much chance as anyone else. Then papers started along the hung parliament route. Which changed everything.

I disagree Lib Dems had no chance, it was always going to be a 2 horse race. But the Lib Dems have got some power in their hands now.

It looks like Labour are staying in power unless Lib Dems can deal with the Conservatives.

You might well get what you want, albeit nationally not locally....

I voted conservative not to get rid of labour but to have a majority government, in this current recession that is what is most important IMHO...you may see that as a removal of labour, I see it as a strengthening of parliament to get through the recession. If labour we're polled to be in first place but needed a majority I would have voted for them...

Just thought I needed to clarify my stance after your remarks

Interesting times for sure...only time will tell whether a hung parliament is a bad thing for the recession or not...I prefer to believe an economics professor than anyone else on this though...and his opinion was it will be a disaster

Have you read anything on why it will be a disaster that you could point me to? Only I don't have an economics prof to talk to, I don't completely understand why it will be a disaster if it is sorted reasonably quickly. Obviously I understand why it will have some affect, just not that much.

Oh and just to clarify my opinion on your stance, voting for a stronger government, is somewhat admirable, voting to get out labour, is a somewhat scummy thing to do.

The speculation created alone due to a hung parliament will cause issues, the pound is falling already for example. If it continues to fall and the government can't get it together quick enough then there is a chance the IMF then get involved and potentially down grade our countries credit rating in simple terms... fingers crossed it won't come to that and that the government take quick action with an emergency budget to reassure the powers that be internationally.

I'll see if I can find any good sites on this topic, that explain things in a more exact manner...I am simplifying what I've heard which may not help all that much in explaining were things might head.

I like to think I'm using my head and not doing the stupid spiteful thing of just trying to vote out a party because I don't like them. But I agree with you that a lot (most of the conservative vote swing even?) has just come from this spiteful thinking of just getting labour out...the politicians and the media haven't helped with this at all, they've been as spiteful as anyone on this.

Yeah I want the liblab to come to fruition liberal + conservative = labour without gordan brown (pretty much) the liberals will be able to dilute the tory issues and visa versa.

One thing that is really annoying me is how people are talking about the queen Im sorry but we are not a monarchy she cant have a say shes just a tourist attraction.

And I'm sure she has the same view point, that she has no right to make a decision of that magnitude for all the people anyway...she knows her place, I quite admire her to be honest - just wish I had a fraction of her funds to play with :)

Unfortunately we are a monarchy.

However being the complete royalist that I am, I think they should all be killed, and we should go to a presedency.
