I only posted those lyrics because they seemed to sum up my feelings.

Everyone is entitled to a vote and that shouldn't change. But I feel that if you want to vote based purely on a few select points which will only make a difference to you, then great, but others will vote for what they believe will benefit the country as a whole.

Which should carry more weight? Possibly neither.

as you say "neither". both/all views carry the same weight. where it goes wrong is, when one group "elects, itself. the "correct" view! as we have now, with the people "inspired" (lol) by greed (money).

nobody has the franchise for "understanding" politics. those who think they do. are, perhaps, the most dangerous and deluded of all groups.

Just voted...not that many at the polling station, I thought at lunchtime I would see a lot more...

If we get a hung parliament then we can all say goodbye to understanding politics...at least for a while until the powers that be decide what the heck they're doing...

Let's be fair, when voting you like to think you know a bit about politics, otherwise what's the point. If you don't want to try and understand and/or don't want to vote then that's your choice too...

Lib Dem people - I'm actually going to do the unheard of thing and vote for who I actually want to win. My local LD candidate is really good and will make good changes for my local area. Also I don't think they can do any worse than the other two clowns!!! A hung parliament could be interesting - nice to have a proper three horse race. Now if only everyones vote counted for the same as each others...

there's no point for democracy when ignorance is celebrated
political scientists get the same one vote as some Arkansas inbred
majority rule, don't work in mental institutions

Gotta love a bit of Fat Mike :fun:

My only concern: Hung Parliament = IMF concerns over UK credit rating = rating down grade and deeper recession...

But to be fair we may well have the same result with the best party for a recession recovery...who ever that would be....

You American?

So far the Exit Poll has shown that Conservative - 305, Labour - 255, Lib Dem - 56, Other -29

SO if the exit poll is correct, then it is a hung parliment.

labour has 3 seats already as of 23:46

What a complete and total mess.

They've spent ages trying to get more people to vote, now they are turning them away because the queue is too long. While at other places, important BBC presenters are allowed to queue jump. Effectively saying that their vote is more important.

Way to get everyone interested in voting guys.

It has become a bit of a joke to be fair so far. The protests taking place kind of show whats going on, with things being so close there are easily going to be questions asked in the morning.

I read parts of the thread, I voted Labour. Gordon Brown is the only man I can actually believe in, I think a change of leader now would do more damage and undo any of the long term plans made by Labour.

As far as lowering the voting age, Im 21 and the amount of othe 21 year olds I have had to educate into what an election is and why we have them has been insane. Lowering the voting age is pointless, I agree that I had an interest in voting at 15/16 but you are in a minority and trying not to sound patronizing but you will look back at being 14/16 and thinking what the hell was I wearing let alone what your ideals were.

As for BNP and NF its just a mirror image of 1930s Germany - a panic stricken country running to extremes, both parties are openly racist.

"Its not that she is black, but she might have a black kid or her sister will have a black kid but once they are in the black tribe they are gone." - Nick Griffin

That's kinda why I suggested lowering the voting age on the local part of the election and not the national. And to have schools educate people about the elections.

They say legally you have to be there to vote before 10pm. Great. But those people were. But because the queue is long they aren't allowed a say.

the other hilarious thing about it is that its such a British flaw that has caused this problem...... queuing if it was anywhere else the crowds would push in lol
