On an aside, it is good to see so many young people here performing in line with the first part of Churchill's quote regarding age and political beliefs:

"Show me a young Conservative and I'll show you someone with no heart. Show me an old Liberal and I'll show you someone with no brains."

This is so true, and not to sound like an old fart, but until you actually age and see this progression in yourself you will think it's a load of nonsense. When I was younger & heard this I thought it was an old time quote by an old guy who was nowhere near in touch with modern times. That was the '70's, modern times huh?

Ya know...unless it's me, I find UK politics totally confusing. You've been around far longer than we have. Maybe you have more to worry about.

I DO love watching those clips on TV tho'...with those sighs and 'ahem's and, of course, the accents. The robes are cool too. The wigs in the courtroom remind me of those old sailing days when we left to come over here (lol).

BTW....I've posted this stuff before, but, my dad was a B17 bomber pilot over there. He had nothing but great things to say about 'y'all'.

Well, the most important thing is that you all get out and vote. That's the single one greatest thing you can do to exercise your freedom.

I just want a party in control of imigration. thats not being racist, UK jobs should go to UK people born here, what ever colour or religion they are, shut our borders as we are so dam full here. I do believe we can help people that come here out the fear for their lives from their native country but controlling it is another matter. Labour have controlled it by leaving the doors open and telling imigration to look the other way.

14 years ago, it was easier to find jobs here, in the last 6 years its been really hard to find a long term employment for a lot of UK born people. Again not being racist, just want to look after our own people.

The Loony Manifesto
1. Health & Safety: We propose to ban Self Responsibilty on the grounds that it may be dangerous to your health.

8. Immigration and Population: I propose that we cap the population of this country. We have too many people for such a small country, so we will Cap the number of people residing here at present rates (approximately 63 million, give or take 10 mill ) on the basis of one out, one in (excluding Births).

Regarding Immigration... Any Person who can prove that they or their descendants emigrated to the U.K before 55 A.D can stay. All the others will be repatriated to their original country. (Well we have to draw the line somewhere)

9. We will ban all forms of Greyhound racing. This will help stop the counrty going to the dogs.

10. Afghanistan, Iraq and the War on terror. Theirs nothing funny about this. however as we have not found any taliban terrorists in Derbyshire. Our Soldiers can all come home now.

I had a long chat with an economics professor on the train the other day about what a hung parliament could well do to this country when already in a recession...the IMF has a rating for all countries creditability and if we get into a hung parliament situation that rating could well be lowered, causing more damage than good, pushing the UK further into a bad place economically. I'm voting Conservative because of this point alone....I just want a majority vote regardless of party. I would vote for Lib Dems if this wasn't the case though...but as much as I like their stance more than other parties, now is not the time...maybe in 4-5 years they'll get their chance once the country is stronger economically.

I cannot understand Lib Dems, if they got into power they simply wouldnt know what to do
plus why do they have an immegrant amnesty policy-possibley the worst thing i have ever heard!


Lets be honest, whoever gets in will cause more economic heartache for the country and set the recovery back a good few months if not a year.

Why vote someone purely to get rid of someone else?

What do you really think the conservatives are bringing to the table other than tax breaks for the rich, a VAT rise and the demolition of anything that helps the poorer people of the country.

When you read their manifesto thats all its about. "we" all have to suffer to get by, but why do the rich get £200,000 tax breaks?

Including mine about hung parliament = down grade of IMF credit rating for the UK? Economics prof words not mine...

I would prefer the country didn't even have an election right now, it's just not a good time at all....and like you say as people switch sides all too easily I have to vote conservative to go with the polls and avoid a hung parliament...if the polls had labour ahead I would vote for them.

I would vote Lib Dem if the recession wasn't here, on the basic premise to see what a hung/balanced parliament might give us and also Lib Dem views might give a little balance with the other parties slant on things. But I think the recession must take presidence over all other values right now...just my opinion...in 4-5 years I'll vote for what party gives me the best manifesto, that's if we're still not in a recession.

So who are you voting for and why then Betta5? You've commented a lot on other's opinions but not given a clear indication of what you will do?
