Thanks Ben....I think I have my first definate fish then...a pair of mixed clowns...sounds like I am ordering pick and mix!

saw you looking at some LR from worcester on UR, did you manage to get some from him?

He is having a look at what is left after he has removed the corals as they are all on LR too....but a guy from cheltenham has contacted me sayinghe has just sold his nano and has loads of spare lr he has kept in another tank from his upgrade. So hopefully I will be able to have a look on Monday!!!! So tomorrow is WATER DAY!!!! wooo hooo!

Am I right in my workings out that I need to put 25g of salt per litre of water to get it to 1025 (35ppt)? Is that the right sg?

don't know.

i put just over 300ml of salt (pro reef) into a jug and added that to around 10 litres of water. that made it around 1.025 ish.

Ok so I just bought the Newattino Plus 10w heater and Maxijet Powerhead 400 for £26.03 (not including postage)

got them from the east riding koi company website...good prices (I thought so!)

Doesnt sound like a bad price. The SG should be somewhere between 1.025-1.027. With regards to how much salt you need its hard to say, it varies from brand to brand and even two buckets of the same brand might need different amounts.

Best bet is to use an old glass or jug and a bucket every time you make water. The first time you do it add the salt a little at a time, give it awhile to mix and then test. Make a note of how many glasses/jugs of salt you used to get the right amount then next time you should be able to get it pretty much dead on if you use the same amount of water and salt.

Thats what I do as well - use the same cup to measure the salt and the same amount of water :good: three cups of salt to 20 litres of water

:fish:

ps for you folks across the pond - I am not talking about your 'cup' measurements, just a kiddies plastic mug

I have water! YAY!
Tank took 75ltrs approx to fill (not to the top though!) And have added 2250g of salt which should bring me up to 1025sg approx! Better to be under than over was my thought as I havent got my refactometer yet (birthday on monday) and my hydrometer is a big dodgy IMO.

The water was funny though! 1st trip to the lfs with 2 x 10 ltrs carriers and my big 30ltr bucket (with lid) collected water....got home to find the corner of one of the 10ltrs was leaking and the other had tipped over in the boot and the lid wasnt on properley...soaked boot in boyfriends car! Had to get the boot liner out and let it dry in the sun before we could go back and get some more water......2nd trip we pt the 2 10lts into a rubbish bag on the way back to prevent spillages....moral of the story ......don't buy poundland cheap water carriers as they are rubbish!

After a seriously heavy night on the drink I am feeling rather fragile today....managed to get away from the bed and bathroom at 3:30 to go and get some live rock rubble and cheato for my fuge & external filter.
Got 5.4kg of the stuff that has filled my external and a sprinkling in the fuge! So will have to get some more on wednesday when they are open next.
Also I have some hitch hikers which I am trying to ID...now I know there is a link somewhere to a good hitch hiker site but can not find it...can anyone help?

I THINK I have a couple of bristle worms, a flat worm, a white stringy worm and a few shrimp things? Also in my cheato I have a tiny starfish. Also an anenome of some sort. It looked like a ball of snot when I found it but has now attached to a rock and opened up......please help!

Pics to follow later after tea...I need food before my hangover kicks in again!

found the link Hitch Hiker guide
