Planted Juwel Rio 180

you realise how poor they are when you stick a decent filter on don't you.

apologies for not making sense, big night out last night.
I knew you had an APS on it, didn't know you were swapping to the Tetratec
Minnit is always banging on about his, that's were i got 'idea' from.
The point i was attempting to get to, was how did the DIY spraybar work out.?

Actually... having seen the aps on the 240l (minus spray bar) I reckon it was the spray bar that was the issue... I think I may have gotten away with just taking it off.

Anyway, the job's done now, I ain't swapping them back again. My back hurts and I've pulled my shoulder and I got my slippers wet  so now there will be lots of tea!!

My advice, try it without a spray bar on at all, just the elbow joint pointing wherever you want the current to go. That's how I've got both mine now. If you're not happy, then think about a spray bar :good:

Who's this minnit geezer?

Stu, I have a spare spray bar I think should you want it. :good:

Did I mention I have an ex2400 on the way? :D :p

Gutted hun..... at least you didn't shock yourself or the fish?.

No, although I did jump when it popped!

Am now watching a Rena Smartheater and adapter on eBay. So much for not spending any money on fish stuff this month! And I had such good intentions! :X

Also, why, after 7 years of fishkeeping and never once forgetting to unplug the heater, have I started doing it this past 6 months?! :dunno: I think I've done it 6 times in as many months...

I bet ya did hun lol... the smart heaters are really good heaters.. what you mean adaptor though? (is this to make it run externally or just to run inline while the heaters in the tank?).

Complacency on the heaters hun?..... i haven't done it for a while because i have had alot less tanks to maintain... i found that i would forget much more often with more tanks ..... but you know me im useless anyways ;)

Yeah one of those adapters that means you can use it as your external filter inlet. I just installed a hydor inline one on my 240, which is great cuz it means I won't have to remember to unplug it during water changes!

I don't forget on the garage tank cuz it's plugged into the same plug as the filter, so they go off together, and the biotope doesn't get water changes, so that one doesn't go off either. I blame this forum lol, it was only after I read a bunch of stories about other people doing it that I started doing it too!

So basically what it really actually means is..... your just as useless as i am?.... at least im not alone now then :p

The hydors are excellent.... never tried this adaptor thing just the heater itself... sounds like a good idea though :good:
