I have a 50 gallon tank and am running a Eheim 2324 Thermal canister filter, Its totally silent and comes with a built in heater so everything is external.

Personally I would always make sure anything electrical is firmly fixed, its alot safer that way :nod:

Yeh I think Ill get a pair of Rainbows, two more Pim Pitus and maybe another Parrot. My Girlfriend works in my LFS (she is fully to blame for my love of tropical fish). They just had a load of fish imported direct from Asia, And when I went in last week I saw a Green and Pink Parrot :no: I...

I did'nt think Orange Parots where dyed? I have seen Green, Pink ones I know they are dyed ?

Sd's and Parots do go well together, but Sd's eat nearly everything a put in the tank I do like them though. Would like something different , I got a month or so to deceide though.

Yeh 2 more Pimmys sounds good. Would another Parrot be a good idea? and maybe a pair of Rainbow Cichlids ? Or would I be overstocked?

Hi, Been doing the fishless cycle for 25 days, I slowed down adding ammonia when I got a Nitrite spike 10 days ago, but the Nitrites wont go down, I tested for Nitrates thinking I have added to much Ammonia , my Nitrate levels where about 75mg/l :*) I have stopped adding Ammonia totaly now...

Hi Guys, One of my Brothers Gold fish got attacked by his cat, Its in his pond, Is there anything we can add to the water to aid healing and prevent infection?

Yeh I would much rather wait than risk harming my fish, had them for a while now and I want to keep it that way :) Like you say though it is frustating having a big empty tank :rolleyes:

Here's My Set up, I have used some thick Plastic heat resistant C Clips to hold the 42" bulb to the lid, my starter is external (best place for it really). You have the right idea with your set up, for watts Vs £ you have a real bargain, just spend a few more pennies and make it safer ;)

Well I have 230kg of water in my 1st floor bedroom, Its up against a Internal brickwall so the load goes straight to the foundations. Its been set up in my room for nearly a month now and so far there's no signs of the ceiling below bowing :rolleyes:

On day 16 of my fishless cycle in my new 55 uk gallon tank, and it looks like my Nitrites have spiked :) Hopefully by the end of the weekend Ill be transfering my fishes into there new home :D The pictures shows Nitrite levels over the last 4 days (todays on the right)

I am on day eleven, my 55 gallon is just starting to see a Nitrite spike.

I am on day eleven also in my 5FT 55 gallon tank, my nitrites spiked a bit on day 9, to 0.3mg/l I am now adding half the AM and hopefully it should settle back down. cant wait to move my 4 silver dollars, parot fish,plec and pictus in too the new tank, They outgrew my 20 gallon in about 7 months.

I know it doesnt come with media, I have ordered that as well. But I have'nt ordered any pipes, spray bar etc because I would of thought it would come with that. :huh:

I ordered it new for £129.99 so hopefully it will come with it. Thanks for the advice :D

Just set up a new 5ft tank, just wondering if there is an easy way to work out how much water it holds? Dimensions in inches are 60x15x15.

Had them about 7 months now, and they are starting to get Big,I am on the look out for a 5-6ft tank as the 3ft is'nt big enough really.

Iam sad to report the fish was indeed not right and died :-( i think he was being bullied, my tank was good for about 4 weeks then i had an outbreak of ich which wiped out 5 fish :-( it seems it be under controll now, the tanks been set up for 10 weeks now so hopefully i have weathered the...

Can I put Parots in with my Dwarf Gourmais? Pleco and Pim Pictus? i have heard they can be aggresive?

I am lucky my Girlfriend works in my LFS, so i know the tanks i kept in well order, and if there is a bad tank she will tell me.

Just looked at pictures of the Dwarf Gouramis, totally in love with the neon blue males...Stunning will have to try and find some.

When i was is Thailand on one of the markets they had about 100 Fighters in tiny bags, they were there all day in the bangkok heat (40oc +) very cruel indeed.

I have a problem with my Juwel compact Filter, it keep sucking my Orange Mollie to be fair he is really doppey. What can i do i thought of fitting a guard but juwel dont make one, What about fitting a varible resistor to my plug socket so i could restrict the power of the pump a bit? would...

3ft Not big Enough? well i spose so when they get 6" long the ones in the pet store are about 1" long didnt know they got that big - shame coz they are lovely fish. What other sorts of attrative fish could i add over the next few weeks? Also what the limit of fish in a 3ft tank?
