I have just had a tank delivered :D - it is a 40G with a glass lid that has sliding panels to access the water and a wooden hinged hood on top.

The tank came with two light tubes and a double choke/starter unit. The delivery guy said that you can just rest the bulbs directly onto the glass rather than drill holes in the hood to attach the lighting.

Is this OK - what do you guys think?

Personally I would always make sure anything electrical is firmly fixed, its alot safer that way
