Are you not able to center out the top piece, so instead of a 7" overhang on one side, it'd reduce it to 3.5" on either side? 7" seems a bit iffy to me, but I'm not exactly your go-to guy on building. Just my 2 cents. :)

Can't see it being a severum, but I do see how he looks like a ctenopoma. After googling 'Pristolepis marginatus', that may be it. Perhaps the vertical lines you're seeing are stress bars (like Sev's get)?

I was unaware of that, but at the same time I don't use Prime. I use 'Big Al's Multi Purpose Aquarium Water Conditioner', and it doesn't say that on it. To each their own though. ;)

That sounds like what I do, and it's worked for me thus far. :good: As for the amount you put in, just put enough to cover the amount of water your replacing. So, if you're doing a w/c on a 50 gallon, and drain it halfway, you'd only add enough water conditioner to condition a 25 gallon...
