What is it?

Any point of reference as to how large it is, and what your current stock is. live plants and so on... Also, any chance this has come from outside your tank and has somehow gotten in? that should help.

ok I have no shrimp or frogs.
I do have:
dojo loaches
angels
swordtail
platy
rasbora
pleco
black neon tetra
blue dwarf gourami

sponge filters no pads, netting, etc

one amazon sword live plant (have found that stuff floating before the plant was put in)

3 fake plants

1 ceramic castle

Picture is roughly 10 to 15% larger than the actual size.

This is not the first time I have found such in my tank.

is it possible that there are some sort of larvae living in your tank, such as dragonfly/damselfly larvae?

cheers :good:

Pretty sure not.

Here is a really dumb thought..

Could it possibly be...

Cobwebs?

From say the corner above the tank or from behind the tank?

have you noticed any changes in one of your fish's behaviors before/after the UFO (cute btw!) appeared?

Just on the off chance, do you, or have you used Stress Zyme in the tank? I have had something similar and it built up on the air pipe with a skin like film as shown in your picture. It only appeared after using Stress Zyme in a little tank as I was experimenting, but since stopping, it has all gone.

I got something similar when I raised the water level higher than usual once and the calcium buildup behind the filter came off and floated around on the top, it looked pretty similar to that.

you haven't been cutting your toe nails to close to the tank have you?

No need to worry. Its from your dojo loach, they shed time to time. It looks like some fish have been nipping at it ;)

Ok.. I did lose one Angel. He was poohing clear and nothing I tried fixed it so I assumed it was the fish pooh just thought I'd get some other ideas.

No way could it be a dead plant leaf as the plant as only been in there for a day and it was there before the plant.

I personally have not clipped my toenails near the tank...lol Could not verify that no one else has tho!

I did not use stresszyme however I did use Novaqua so that is an idea...

If it is from my loaches the fish did some major nibbling as it was about an inch long and my dojos are about 6 inches long!

Either way I figure it is
A) fish pooh
B) dojo skin
or
C) a cobweb fell in the tank

However I will ask my kids and my boyfriend about the toenails ;)

Thanks guys!
Shelby
