I went out back tot he lake behind my house to catch a starter fish for my 10 gallon, well i saw some blakc and white spotted fiah out there and caught one to use as my starter, it looks a lot like my guppys but its spotted black and white here is a pic, there are also some grey ones that is the second pic.
\anyone know what kind of fish they are?

I'm thinking thats a Killifish, but I could be wrong. Guppy would be my next guess

looks like a sort of dalmation female endler guppy to me.... its only because the second looks just like a female endler, typical shape size etc.

so ill go with some breed of endler guppy, pretty interesting, if my girlfriend saw that spotty one she would want a million as she is well into them!

female huh? i guess i gotta go out there catch some more until i get a male, male guppyes have the long bottom fin right? the gray one had a long bottom fin the spotted one has a short fin

Im pretty sure its one of THESE

i think you would probably agree, either way i think your pretty lucky being able to just catch them from a lake as they sell for im guessing would be $5+ over here!

Its a Phalloceros caudimaculatus :) google it :) a very small livebearer, cute, very similar to an Endler :good:

yep googled and found it and yes that is it, thanx, awesome seems its going to be a great companion to my 3 guppies, so the ones with the long bottom fin are the males right? that way i can return the first one i caught to the lake

Not difficult to tell, if its black and spotty then its male, if its twice the size and grey, its female!! :)

Yes its the gonopodium (sp) that is long on the male :)

Very nice! I wish i could get some to go with my guppies.

yeah i figures that the spotted ones where the males, just wanted to make sure it was a male, the second i caught is much bigger than the first, i returned the first and kept the bigger one with the obvious gonopodium. hes about the size as my guppies, except his fins and tail are much smaller, so im thinking hes gonna be the bully of the bunch since his fins are made for swimming and surviving , where the fancy guppies are to look pretty.
