This is an actual goldfish tank.

This might not be furniture but it's still cruel to the fish.

This is not a thread to wind people up about fish cruelty. I wanna know what other people think about the fish tank furniture. I like it but i think it might be a little bit cruel to the fish.

There are lots of odd shaped tanks that are harder to care for than the ones we usually use. Although many of them would be fine for fish, the extra effort to clean them and feed the fish would put me off. The tiny container for a betta is not at all unusual, unfortunately. There are plenty of people who have no idea how large a tank a betta should be given, and the LFS keeping them in tiny cups certainly doesn't help with people getting the wrong idea.

The tables are a popular thing but agree with Oldman47 so much effort to clean. The toilet and betta cup thing on the other hand I feel is cruel! I suspect the fish tank toilet has a mechanism to help the fish along but who wants to see humans toileting all day  I would personally love a table but then if got one would ensure if was right for the chosen fish.

Anyone got any ideas on how they feed and maintain the phone booth tank? I think it would be quite embarassing to go to the loo with fish watching you.

Exactly why would a fish want to see you go to the loo?

I've seen the last one on ebay, and the seller states that it's not a permanent home, just for showcasing at parties and stuff

People do keep bettas in them permanently though that;s why it's cruel but if the seller says that then ok i suppose that's ok.

So it's not enough to put it in there then? they have to keep stressing the fish out by moving it?

the coffee tables could be a really good idea though.

if they made it with a thick base, which hid an external filter, (maybe one made specifically for tanks like these, so it's slim) with an access panel to get at it for maintenance (also be a good place to hide food and bits...) with a built in heater. the pipework or the filter, and the heater could be hidden nicely in the table legs.

then it's just water changes, which i'm sure it would be easy anough to comeup with a nice way of removing the table top while still having it secure while it's on.

that'd solve most problems i'd have with those...

As we all know fish keeping requires quite a bit of work if done properly.

Luckily the sort of t*** that would purchase any of the featured vessels that have been displayed as fishtanks would fail very quickly thus ending their involvement in our wonderful hobby.

You cannot slate people making money from other people's stupidity

I think the coffee table tanks look interesting in the pictures but would loose their dramatic effect in a real household where it is surrounded by other furniture and clutter.

I've never been convinced that the toilet tank is anything but a joke and it just doesn't seem practical. But, so far as fish watching me in the bathroom, I don't mind. I already have four tanks in there. To make matters worse, my cat figured out that I'm not doing anything very important while I'm sitting there, so she follows me in most of the time to get petted.

English not your thing then! :X

Well the top isn't part of the tank is it. There is air between glass and water at the top which allows the sound energy to disssipate. Also transferring from on substance to another will make it lose energy. Water and glass are similar in a lot of ways for sound so if they are connected the it's almost a direct transferrence of sound with no losses but with air between I'd worry about it a lot less.

Now kicking it accidentally would be a worry...

And just because the grammar was terrible, the spelling was even worse, there was still a good point being made. There was no need to ignore the point made in the post and take the xxxx out of the writing.

I want one of those coffee table tanks badly, I gotta say. They are spiffy.

 I keep telling my mum that we are swapping our coffee table for the hexagon table and she always replies "no we are not!" then i say we are getting the sink and toilet and her reply once again is "no!"
I will never get that table because my mum won't let me.
