does anybody else see the glaring contradiction between looking after our fish (which is what I hope we all want to do here) and keeping them scared?

I couldnt watch most of it, but am assuming it had to tear the goldie up to eat it :-( Even if it needed to be done like that what kind of pleasure can sombody get from watching it?

Well I firmly believe that since the fish was in your care you should have provided for its basic needs and not just let it suffer, just because something is going to become a meal dosen't mean that there should be total disregard for its quality of life, I can't believe you just let that happen...

Sounds pretty cruel to me, you still had a duty of care to that fish

I'm still researching and I dont even have any fish yet but couldn't you just add the blood worms when you turn the aquarium light out? with the fish using mainly eyesight and frogs using mainly smell to locate food

How big is it? And how big is the barb? its difficult to tell how big it is with no point of reference.. almost looks like it has a vein system maybe some sort of parasite :sick:

I have much better knowledge of birds than fish and I have two local pets at homes, one is 15 mins away and the other is 20 mins away in the other direction, now one is really good for birds, large aviaries, always fresh water, have access to veggies, but the other, water dosent look like its...

So, I went out and bought a floating thermometer too see which is correct, my digital thermometer or heater. I had turned the heater down last night to 23 but my digital thermometer now says 28.4, its gone up! lol but the "out" says 23.5, which is about right (again) but out is the temperature...

Hi I bought a digital thermometer for the tank today with an alarm on for if the water goes hot or cold I'm just a bit confused about in/out temperatures, my heater is set at 26, But the thermometer says IN (inside the tank??) 28.2 and out (room temperature??) 26.1, or is it the other way...
