Mutant Fish ?

my first fish i bought where these i had six

a couple of weeks later the one of em turned into this

any ideas why?

Looks either like a Balloon Molly or a heavily pregnant molly. The others look a little slim for molies to me, but I maybe wrong.

Maybe when you but them, there was a similar coloured balloon molly mixed in with whatever else you got. someone else will have to ID these as I don't know.

Lovely fish Balloons, althogh they don't live for that long 1-2 years.

I know I'm very new at this,but looks like neons,glowlights,clouded minnows and the big one looks like a fat platy.

The only thing I can smell is the trump I just did and yes I do believe in mutants.

The above fish was sold to me as a neon tetra and look at him now !!

Glolight Tetras. I think not. The balloon would have been a balloon when bought. One of the others looks similar to a columbian red tetra, but not glolight the have orange from eye to tail not a red nose. (or at least mine do)

Looks more like one of my female platies - sure it's a molly?

Doesn't look particularly balloon either - just looks well fed or up the duff, so to speak

Just got this image off the net of a glowlight and it looks the same to me.

Can't wait 'til we get this ident sorted. I can then sleep !

what does WCMM mean?. Malfie your pic is a glolight but the fish in your pics all seem to have red nose? maybe its the pic or my eyes.

white cloud mountain minnow

i'm about 12 billion % sure that's what the first pic is!

possibly the gold colour strain you can get now.

In the first pic we have a mountain minnow and the other fish are mountain minnows, glolights and a neon. The one in the middle looks like a platy.
I dont know if its a wind up or not but it would be hard to mistake a mountain minnow from a platy.

this is not a wind up the mutant fish is completely different to any other fish i have in my tank its got no line thru its body like all the others and its huge in comparision to the other fish the closest lookalike is the glowlight but its a lot bigger than them and has no orange line and the mutant is a lot broader as well

Your mutant fish is a platy, a livebearer.
Maybe when the fish you got were netted this one was in there by mistake.
