Ok, I will continue the dose for a few more days. There is a big improvement, you can see the difference in the fish. They are actually exploring the tank, chasing, mating etc. Nice to see fish all over the tank rather than at the top or near the bottom. The white went from the fishes fins too.

Convict Cichlids are easy to breed but they wouldn't go well with the livebearers obviously. I had sucess with Siamese Fighters and they threw out eggs every few weeks. A little harder to bring the babies up though but I done nothing with the convicts out the ordinary.

I have a similar problem in my 5ft. I have some big plecs in there and that make massive number 2's. When I had gravel it went it between the gravel but with sand it stays on top until it breaks down. I normally syphon a bucket or 2 every Sunday. I don't know what else you can do.
