I have some pesky snails that i toss into a beaker full of salt water that i used to hatch brine shrimp.

The water here in Washington DC has chloramines, and I've used Stress Coat to treat it with no problems.

What kind of filtration do you have? The water must be calm enough that the bubble nest has stayed intact. Male bettas will blow bubble nests with or without a female present. Don't really know anything about gouramis.

hehe, they always look overfed to me too! One of my females is such a pig... she eats and eats and eats!!!

Do you have any other males that currently have a bubble nest? During my spawn, DeLaunce's nest wasn't all that big... and over time it started to degrade but he didn't do anything to rebuild it, so I transplanted a buttle nest from one of my other bettas into the spawning tank. That helped alot.

Is it a real sea shell?!?!?! If it's a real shell, that's dangerous. Sea shells can drastically change the water chemistry and raise the pH. I've read stories about bettas dying the day after a shells have been added to their tank.
