I had to euthanize my second crowntail, Cosmo. We fought an 11 day battle against a swim bladder infection and body fungus like I've never seen. It was hard to do it, but I managed to get myself to. He could only sit on his side, horizontal on the surface the side of the water, and suffer. I guess I did the right thing... but I feel terrible. He looked as if he knew what I was doing, and was thankful for it though. I used clove oil and vodka, incase you were wondering. Here's to you, little buddy :byebye:

Awww, I'm sorry PapaSmurf. :( That must have been a really tough thing to do, but it sounds like it was the right thing. *hugs* RIP little guy.

why clove oil.. and vodka? does it take along time to pass? ive never had to do this but i guess one day i will.

and is it me or do cts get the worst of the desease? my pks and hms and veils dont really get fin rot or swim bladder. but so far 4 or 6 cts ive had got sick 2 died and 2 are being treated daily.

I seem to have a difficult time with crowntails too :( I think their fins are a bit more delicate than other bettas

Clove oil is just the sleeping agent for the vodka (or other high grain alcohol) to do it's job. The vodka is actually what would kill the fish, which I use because it very, very hard to do a fatal OD on just clove oil, I'm guessing because it's all natural. Thanks for the support people... and I really have noticed that CT's get sicker faster, worse and for longer than other bettas. I have no clue why... maybe it's what bolt said about their streaked fins. Is it wrong if I'm looking at pictures of bettas on aquabid? Or do you figure it's some sub-concious response to get cosmo out of my mind? (I need to shut up, I know)

EDIT: I may be a terrible person, but check this guy out, he looks great! (Back off, I'm going to bid on him as soon as I convince my folks that buying a fish off the internet isn't a sure bet for a DOA waste of time. Maybe he'll be my rebound fish  )My betta! Back off!

well i am glad its not just me with the cts. that betta is wonderful maybe i should bid. kidding lol

Do you? That's interesting... what are your average shipping costs? I'm in AL, so I figure shipping would be *somewhat* similar to yours. I'd like to know how big the hole in my wallet'll be :p

well i ordered about 3 bettas, but they havent been shipped to her yet. she quoted me 25 i beleive, but i forget. i know its really expensive anyways. jennifer is good thou she will make sure you betta is healthy. good lady.

Goodness.. eleven days.
I'm so sorry.

I'm glad you found the strength to do the right thing though.
