Chances are they will be breeding, jellybean convicts are as prolific as normal cons. If she stays in the shipwreck then thats probably where the eggs will be laid, if they havn't been already. Thats if you have a mated pair.

They arn't convicts, atleast not pure cons. 1st pic does have body shape of JD but I'm not convinced. At a guess I would say it looks like a juvenile red terror, but cannot be sure on this. Any chance of some pictures in a better light?

I don't think any shrimp would work in that tank. The synodontis or Firemouth would eat them when they get big enough, if they can't fit them in in one bite they will most likely attack it after moulting. I also think the FM would be too boisterous for the apisto's. If you go for larger...

Saddles are eggs developing in the ovaries. Knowing cherry shrimp babies are most likely on their way, the eggs will move from the saddle to underneith her where the term will become 'berried'. She will look after them there, fanning them for around 2 weeks I think.

Also just to say that many RD's/Midas go through colour changes, especially when young. So they might be yellow now, but once they start to mature they may change colour/pattern.

Yeah, Pterophyllum scalare is the species. Within that there are different types, not different species just different strains/colours your's is called zebra veil (zeba = the stripes + veil = long fins).

The picture of the regular pink con is probably of an adult male going by the nuchal hump (hump on its head). Either way you don't have a regular pink convict, you have what I think is called a jellybean convict/bubble gum convict.

I believe what you have is a 'jelly bean parrot'. Some people think its a deformed pink con, others think its a convict x blood parrot.

Wouldn't recommend a biffa for a 40"x18" tank, bit too small imo. Female texas you could probably get away with. I also think Herichthys carpintis grows smaller than H. cyanoguttatus.

Just a thought, if you liked jags but are put off by the size/attitude why not try other Parachromis fish (not dovii of course :P). They stay smaller and on a whole I would say less aggressive than jags, but they still have attidude which may be too much for your oscars but I'd be willing to...
