I can manage a school of either otos or corys in my tank, but not both...
I have had corys in the past and I like them a lot, but otos seem to be good algae busters, advice plox.

I have otos in with my Dwarf Puffers. ten in total.
I also in some bronze corys and some pigmy corys in a community tank.

In my opinion, the otos look nice, but they are a tad boring. The personalities are no where near as fun as the corys.

Also the otos are not the greatest of algae eaters either.

go for a group of cories if you can house then i would reccomend peppered cories i have some of these in a 10gal at my grans house soo active and lively need to be in groups of at least 4 though

I like the cories but IMO oto's are better for eating algae

29g with 6 lemon tetras and 5 harlequin rasboras..going to get 3 more harlequins in a week or so
...i am also thinking of getting some (3) platies before getting the otos/cories...

all that in mind, could i also just get 3 otos and 3 cories? are they compatible?

Hi Elrohirthehasty :)

Corys and otos are quite compatible. They get along fine with kuhli loaches too, as you can see in this picture:

The trouble with having otos is that, not only is it hard to find healthy ones, but they are difficult to keep unless your tank has plants and algae growing in it. IMHO, corys are the easier to keep and are much more interesting to watch. :D

hmmm....im thinking cories more now, but what other small plecs eat algae and not plants?
