It depends on what fish you have. Sometimes Haps and Mbuna can be mixed. And sometimes not. I tried it in my tank, and it didn't work. The Haps got beaten up and I had to take them out. Also, the bigger the tank, the greater the chance of it being ok. There are some good Malawi suppliers on...

Ludwig, Does the tank have loads of hiding places, caves, that sort of thing. That might encourage them to breed?

Not necessarily. It all depends on how hard your water is to start with. My water is fairly hard & I have loads of wood in it. The ph hasn't budged at all.

I would use some sort of anti-fungal treatment. Just in case something else nasty developes on the wound.

I have read that a pimch of food into the tank will kick start the cycle again. There are other nutrients in the food, not just the ammonia that will help the bacteria.

I think it has something to do with the plant not absorbing nutrients. Btw, my son is distraught with the result on Sunday :sad: My tank is 240L

How big are the L264 (Sultans)?

This is fine for Malawis, especially if it is hard. better to have it stable, but slightly lower, than keep playing with it and have it fluctuate.

Hi All, I have a few pieces of Sumatra Wood in my tank. When I set up the tank a few months ago I tied numerous plants of Anubias and Java Fern on to the wood using string. Both types of plant have refused to attach to the wood. The Anubias produced new roots that remained very short. Slowly...

Are you in Australia? Besides some of the Rainbows, I am not sure what species would be available for you? Perhaps with Cichlids you would have a bigger choice? Go to a few lfs and see what is available, and then make your decision. :good:

I saw some of these at my lfs on the weekend. Am so pleased I deicded to do my homework first and not buy them on impulse!

These are really tiny. 1cm if that. Do F8 or greens get sold at such a small size?

BGK are nocturnal, so they will naturally be shy during the day. If you suspect it has Ich, then it's probably a good idea to treat it. Turn up the temp by 1 or 2 degrees - slowly And I would probably also use something like Esha 2000

When I had Mbuna I had the odd one dissapear and never found the body. These were much bigger than a Danio. I suspect the other fish disposed of the body pretty quickly.

Sorry to say it but I would take the car out. But that's just me - I don't like fake cars, submarines, greek architecture, crashed planes etc in tanks

Am most jealous that you have set up so many new tanks :drool: Looks very nice. Just a comment. I am not sure I would have the powerhead in it. A lot of the Malawis prefer to have still water, particularly the ones from deeper water in the Lake.

How long have you had it for? I have had my BGK for about 6 months, and it has hardly grown at all. And it is on a diet of Tetra Prima, Blood Worms (frozen) & Tubifex Worms (frozen)

My lfs has quite a variety of genuine species. In fact I have seen quite a few at various branches of MA

Hi All, I saw an advert for these in a fish magazine. Just a photo and the lfs selling them. They look like some sort of glass catfish, but the face is different. Does anyone know what they are? Some sort of oddball? Thanks Squidward
