    Swimbladder?

Thanks wilder. I can't isolate her at the moment, but if she makes it throught the night then i will get a small plastic tank to put her in tomorrow and start treating with an anti internal bacteria med. She is hiding in a plant pot at the moment but I'm pretty sure her barbels were full and...

    Swimbladder?

Ok one of my new cories is having major difficulties swimming and keeping upright. When she swims along she lists to the side and ends up dropping down to the bottom of the tank. Tank is a 50 gallon with 5 Copper Rasboras, 3 Khulie loaches, 2 Sparkling Gouramis, 2 Albino Cories and 2 Corydoras...

    Dwarf Pangasius?

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. It was a stunning fish, its a shame it will most likely live its life in unsuitable circumstances. :(

    Very green water

Wilder posted a link further up the thread which will explain what causes it and how to get rid of it. I've used that method and it works.

    Dwarf Pangasius?

I went to the LFS yesterday to get some new cories (who are adorable by the way  ) and spotted something called a Dwarf Pangasius. It was beautiful, I fell in love with it instantly. But being a good girl I didn't buy it. After doing lots of research (and being frightened by the pinned...

    Choclate/Rhino plec

Thanks!! Yes he does look scrumptious, thinking about it he could be a model for the perfect chocolate bar. A Chocolate Rhino plec bar. I'd buy one if I saw it at the LFS.

Shrimps for the panted tank and high temperature

You might do better posting the shrimp and snail question in the Invertibrates, Amphibians and Aquatic Reptiles forum where the shrimp experts will be hanging out. The other two questions might be best put in tropical chit chat I think. Good luck with your tank!

    STARTER FISH

I say go for some Harlequin Rasboras. They are hardy and much more attractive looking than most danios in my opinion. They are good schoolers and very active!!

    Do you get distracted?

I get very distracted at the LFS, no matter how much I tell myself in advance I'm going to go straight in pick something up and leave I always end up just having a quick look at the fish which turns into about an hour. I'm sure they think I'm crazy. I also get distracted by this forum, I was...

a fish in a harliquin rasboras' clothing

I've got some Copper Rasboras which look like the third picture but with a bigger black triangle. They are listed as Harlequins in my LFS and strangely the true Harlequins are listed as Gold Harlequins in the LFS. Tis all very bizarre.

what would you put in a 10,000g tank?

I think channel cats can get to be a couple of foot long. Probably too big for anything other than a 10,000 gallon tank!

are all the "rules" really important?

Just thought I would throw my 2p. I value life, I preserve it as much as I can. I don't swat flies. Everyone is different. So while you may not understand some peoples perspective of caring so much about the rules and wanting to make sure that minnows are kept happily in a group, they...

how do you feel about...posting pictures

Well I like looking at other peoples pictures but I rarely post replys about them. Mainly because if a couple of people have already posted saying "nice fish" or whatever I feel a bit silly to post exactly the same thing again. But thinking about it I reckon I would feel a bit disheartened if...

    Summer time

This is the first time that I have been pleased I live in a freezing cold flat, my tank has only gone up 1 degree C today. I would say leaving the lights off on the tank might help for anyone having problems with the heat. Maybe those of you having problems could put a bag of frozen peas or...

    Malaysian Trumpet Snails dying

I only used a very small amount of disinfectant designed for aquariums and then rinsed out thoroughly and then scrubbed it with warm water and sponge. I was very careful not to use anything or leave traces that might be harmful to the fish. Thanks for replying.

    Malaysian Trumpet Snails dying

I haven't fed anything particularly meaty for a little while, it may be that although they were pretty active until I moved them into the new tank then just dropped on their backs but then started moving again when I put them in the old tank. I have found a couple of small ones at the back of...

    Malaysian Trumpet Snails dying

I have just changed over my fish to a larger tank and my trumpet snails seem to be dying. I cleaned it thoroughly before moving the fish and the snails over so there shouldn't have been anything on the tank that would harm them. And the water and everything else is the same as in the previous...

    Black Shark

Well it isn't really ok since the tank you were advised that you need has to be at least 6ft x 2ft x 2ft. As much as you may love your black shark and want to keep him, if you can't get a big enough tank you will really need to consider rehoming him before he gets too big. Apart from how bad...

    Bleeding Hearts..not really ick

I'm no expert but it could be a patch of fungus as they are raised not flat like whitespot. Is there anyway you can take a picture? Does it look a bit like cotton wool??? You also might have more luck if you post in the emergency section.

    A controversal topic...

Thanks! Yeah I did. I spent the evening at the pub telling everyone about your fish (especially bruscilla) and the guinea pigs and birds. Then I talked about the cube and what I was going to put in it for a while and then I think they got sick and stopped listening to me. Toxis: Maybe not...
