You got a bargain there mate! how long until your hoping to be up and running? I currently have a 225 litre tank and after watching your journey with this tank i might purchase one myself :good:
Love the tank  how much did that set you back? if you don't mind me asking that is?
Following this one all the way mate! cant wait to see it up and running :hyper:
Try to keep sand away from where rock will be sitting :) many fish etc.. like to have a good dig and can disturb the rock if it is on a sand bed. If possible rock in first then add your sand around it :good:
Being fairly new to this myself the only thing i know is that you want pieces which are light (weight wise) this means they are more porous and better for filtering your tank. A big heavy piece of live rock isn't going to do very much. I have some huge pieces of rock but weigh very little.
As...
Just read that hermits sometimes shed there outter skin .. could this be a possibility? the reason i ask is because he was in a tight space under a rock like he was hiding.. do they leave there shell to shed skin?
Just had a scan of the tank and noticed something orange in the rock  investigated under a rock and one of the 2 halloween hermits i got with the electric hermit was dead floating next to his empty shell  why has he been brutally murdered in a house robbery but his house hasn't...
Yeah i found that out earlier today mate.. might think about finding him a new home. Not seen him attack anything yet :look: (runs off and counts how many snails are in tank)
I got 5 red leg hermits from the abyss and 5 turbo snails. Total was about £20 i think..
Got the rest including the big lad from someone breaking there tank down. :D
I added a couple of the tricolour hermits this week and there right little barstewards!! constantly been climing on the backs of anything with a shell  thankfully there has been no casualtys as of yet
Loving toby the goby  and that galaxia is amazing!!!!
Got 6 turbo snails in at the moment and around 10 hermits.. The snails dont tend to bother with the sand though  can you suggest any that stay on the sand?
As for lights i have them on for 12 hours a day.
I got the torch for £22 from the abyss .. it is a 4 headed torch and it is really healthy and has come out more than the pics show .. will get a fully extended pic of it later for you.
All the other frags in there i got off someone breaking a tank down and he just wanted £5!! bargain :lol...
The torch is a stunner and so happy with it .. pictures don't do it justice B-)
And yeah also have a hammer in there which started very small is seems to be growing very fast!
If you check the last few pages of my journal mate i have started adding some easy to keep photosynthetic corals that mainly feed of light so nice and simple to keep :) my tank is only 8 weeks old and they are doing fantastic.
Just thought i would add a pic of my new finger coral :D sinularia finger coral i believe is the correct name
Also thought i would show you one of my new members in the CUC i have named him big Al  he is a monster compared to the other hermits and motors round the tank!
And here...
I bought a second hand RO unit the other day :D after plumbing it in today i thought i would have a play.
My tap water is 31ppm TDS (Very low :D )
and after it has run through my RO/DI it comes out at 0
I have read on the the internet that even if it is 0 at the end it doesnt mean all is...
No  they are dreaming if they think they are getting £140. I will wait for a bargain on ebay :D only want the LED's for my blue light. Was having a good talk with the owner of abyss in stockport and he showed me the blue aquarays on there coral tanks and i was blown away with the effect...
Ended up getting a 3 stage RO man RO Unit, some blue hermits, 2 Halloween hermits, test kits, White finger coral and some equipment for maintainance like a grabber and stuff :) oh and a big fish book. All for £70 which was a bargain I thought :D
Are they reef safe? i got a large one tonight that is at least 4 times the size of my others and i just want to make sure he is reef safe .. He is a electric blue hermit which are suppose to be safe but not sure when they get large. He is amazing to watch but seems very bold and steams around...
In my experience i have been on many forums which have a large amount of people not confident enough to post etc .. just take a look at the bottom of the forum every now and again and you will see just how many people don't sign up and get involved.
249 active user(s) (in the past 15 minutes)...
The problem with the current chat system is you have to look for it and move onto a separate window/tab  with an in forum chat box people can still browse the forum whilst using the chat box. It wont be to everyone's taste but will encourage newer members or browsers to interact more on...
Would encourage more people to talk on the forum and maybe even encourage more shy users who don't feel confident enough to post. Fairly easy to add to the forum aswell.
At least you didnt lose your money then .. one of the reasons i use the abyss in stockport is down to there 10 day guarentee! top notch shop and service.
Hopefully wont be to long before you get another mate :good:
Its JBL KorallFluid .. looking at the content it seems full of vitamins. Says to dose daily but read some storys about some liquid foods causing algae outbreaks ..
Thanks mate .. i do have some liquid coral food i got for free .. would you suggest using this or not in my tank? and once i use the reef A+B would that replace any time of feeding of corals?
