what's the total wattage? mushrooms are supposedly very hardy so aslong as your water's good and you have adequate lighting they'll be fine. Usually people keep their litghts on between 8 and 12 hours a day. hope that helps!

I've recently been planning a 15"x15x15 nano cube (roughly 15 gal) and I was wondering about metal halides (specifically floodlight versions). For 15 gallons would a 150w MH be a bit overkill and would 70w be more suited? Only problem would be that if I went with a 70w a would have to stick to...

first of all i'd buy some laterite to mix in with the sand. this is pprobably the reason why alot of your plants are dying- silica sand is inert so you'll need to add fert yourself.

they'll be absolutely fine. they eat dying plant matter, but not living. they barely leave the substrate at all- just churn it up looking for food! :good:

tried to get 3 yesterday, but nowhere in central scotland had them :o!! I tried phoning everywhere: edinburgh to glasgow, and every other place in between! I'll need to leave it a few weeks I think. It'll let my plants grow and fill out though, which should only be a plus.
