The anus is not red or inflamed. A thought just occurred to us though. We never had any problems until we purchased some live plants from a new aquatic centre. We certainly did not have snails either. They are cute enough but it limits the treatments we can use in the tank.

Thanks for the info. Whilst changing the filter, I noticed long, white, stringy faeces in the aquarium. We have added Melofix to the aquarium just in case there is a bacterial infection. We will be monitoring everything very closely.

We put ours in with a weight, leave it for 24 hours and then remove it. When will we learnn that they don't eat it :)

Whilst keeping an eye on Bumble, we have noticed on both the Goldfish that they have a bump / lump in the centre of their bottom lips. On one fish it is smooth and on the other, it is nodular. Any idea what they are and could this be related to Bumble's problem? All suggestions / comments welcome.

We have spoken to the specialist and we will be taking Bumble to see him at 09:00 on Thursday morning - the earliest he could see him! Meanwhile, Bumble spends most of his time swimming in and out of the air line bubbles. :sad: We will keep you posted. All ideas are welcome.

Hi Wilder, We are awaiting a return call from a vet who specialises in fish. Meanwhile, we are changing the aqurium water twice a week in order to keep the Nitrate low (we live in a high Nitrate area) and keep the algae down in order to keep the Oxygen level up. Bumble spends a lot of time...

We have him on bacterial meds now. This is not the first time either. Isolation isn't an option as he gets very stressed when we take him away from the others. Do you think it may be worth seeking advice from our Vet?

Took breezer40's advice and squeezed out a jumbo poly filter and jumbo course filter from my large tank in to the one with the problem. We then added a Nitra-zorb pouch. The aquarium has now stablised and the ammonia and nitrite levels have are now zero. We will continue to monitor it but this...
