Do not bury the bulbs. jsut sit them on top of the substrate, they will soon release a small sprout and a leaf and roots will came after and they find there way into your substrate. the fuzz your talking about is normal. I get it too. I have so many aponogetons I dont know what to do with them...

its not really which light is the best but its about what best suits what you need. to make your plants look good and fish look good, I use 6500k full spectrum fluorescent bulbs. you could invest in a power compact lighting system. quite expensive but are great. and you plant could be dying...

Amazon swords are root feeders. Roottabs are perfect for them. Potassium and iron are what I and many others use. I dont really have a good way to put this but if your plants arent getting enough light as it is for photosynthesis, co2 wont help much at all.

I wouldn't recommend using it on planted tank as co2 will escape due to surface agitation. If you can get it to where it doesnt aggitate the surface much then its cool. That is if you use co2 injection and have plants.

I would say trade him as he will soon outgrow the 55 gallon accomadation you have provided him with. 1 Oscar alone should be kept in a minimum of a standard 75 gallon tank. I know its hard to let go of "that fish you like" but it is most likely better for the fish.

I say we all join together and start an LFS lol. Do you know awesome we could make that sucker. So many good Ideas and freddy makes some really nice points. I would call it the TFF Den, the friendliest LFS around.
