I just got a new 28gal tank (bowfront). I just got the sand (30lbs) and live rock put in (29lbs for now). The water is already adjusted to temperature and balanced. :) I also have 5 snails in as well.

I will post some pictures here soon after the water completely clears from the sand. I liked the live rock I got today. It had some baby turbo snails come off of it plus some 2 tiny serpent stars. Again i will get some pictures!!

Is a 28 gal tank considered "nano"? Or is it right on the border?

I can't say if your tank is considered "nano" for sure, as I have not been in saltwater for very long, but I have heard that "nano" is 20g- and I have heard that "nano" is 29g-. I am not sure but I have heard "nano" used for 20- gallons more often.

Just sitting and looking over my setup. I notice that it seemed like a large piece of the live rock moved (also seemed to snap closed). I will take a pic of the section of live rock so someone can let me know what "it" is.

I circled the part of the rock mentioned in the earlier post. Any ideas?

Looks like a bivalve. Nice little treasure to hitchiker on your liverock.!

Here are the pictures i promised.

Here it is just after setup and the temp stabilised and after some good settling. 5 Turbo Snails are there.

After a few hours it really has cleared up a lot more. The water checked out accross the board and I felt that the 2 scarlet crabs could move in.

Here is the the most recent picture of the live rock. It looks like there are 6-7 bivalves (maybe more) on the rocks. A few of them are hard to find. But there at least 4 on the lower rock on the left.

Hmm. well there is no definate size that can be considered Nano IMO but as a rule that i follow.. up to 20 gallons is a nano. above this is a tank, be it reef or fish only. 28 gallons is more lie a small reef tank IMO.
