Wild Red Spotted Peru Angelfish Tank

Awesome fish, amazing colouration in your fish Matt as always. How i'd love to be a fish in one of your tanks!

Seriously though, sort the focus issue out, its been nearly 2 years hasn't it haha :p

Stocking is coming along nicely though, this thread is swaying me toward a small group of Bolivians for my 280L planted, along with other conciderations such as checkerboard cichlids, and wild betta's. Hmmm.

Some more pics of the angels would be good too!
mate you are always welcome round for a dip in my tank if you feel the need

photography as you can see isnt my best hobby. my camera is still damaged so ive had to take all of these with my phone

im lovin the bolivians they are very playfull and their colours are superb and have really come out since being in the lfs tanks. i would defo reccommend them :good:

ive just transfered 4 of the angels accross into this tank tonight. so i now officially have angelfish in my angelfish tank :hyper: still settling in so ill get some pics up asap for ya mate :good: the remaining 4 will be moved to join them friday i think as the filter should have caught up by then i hope....

im also kind of thinking that the bristlenose was a bit of an impulse buy and there may not be enough room for him in there especially with my plans of getting another L200 :/

i may offer this fish for sale in the classifieds for what i paid for it. real shame as its a stunning and rare bn

Oh i feel violated. I saw you'd posted and thought "Yes, pictures up", but now i see its just one of those annoying teaser posts that just 'inform' you whats happened. C'mon Matt, quit teasing already :p I'm practically foaming at the mouth

looking great? What's the floating plant with the long roots? Wont the FX5's destroy them?

its amazon frogbit mate. they arrived with very short roots and within a couple of weeks they have grown massive. the FX5's are turned down slightly and the plants seem fine and have settled where you can see them

i use to have frogbit in my cory breeding tanks and it seems to do ok with no ferts in my water so thought i would try it again. the angels seem to be trimming the roots for me though :grr:

i think a few more plants at the bottom and a few new rocks etc and its about done, i think. :good:

Yeh, a few rounded river pebbles and maybe some vallis would look really good.

I've got frogbit in mine which have multiplied loads (20 small plants have developed to cover a 3rd of the tank) but their roots are nowhere near the length of yours. Are you feeding them anything?

no ive just chucked them in and they became massive :hyper: my days of adding carbon and ferts are long gone. ive chosen plants that hopefully will do ok with just the light and nitrates etc from the bioload.

the angels are constantly nipping and trimming the roots though so im not sure how long they will last

I think that's what must be happening to mine then. Loads of leaf growth and runners, but hardly any roots.

I do see my angels pecking around at them but had not considered they were actually eating.

Angels like worms, no  :hey: :fun:

Ok, Do they not twirl around on the spot matt? My water lettuce was a sod for spinning on the spot as a mass of several plantlets, all rotating in perfect unity. Looked great from the top, but side view of the tank was fun to see my rummynose's swimming amongst an ever changing maze of roots, pah!
