Wild Red Spotted Peru Angelfish Tank

Its strange how new fish just die isn't it. I have just lost three newish minnows under the same circumstances.

Hopefully it is the L200 that is eating. I am sure that it will be by now. It took me well over a month before I saw my LDA033 eat anything. Now it seems to parade along the front of the tank showing me that it is eating

it is strange but annoying at the same time

i defo saw the L200 eat some prima last night so i do know hes eating something which is great :good:

ive not lost a fish in years before setting up this tank which makes it even worse to take. hopefully thats the end of it now and i can get on with the stocking.

couldnt resist another L200 today  same size as the other.

also added 4 more rosy tetra to the group.

a new piece of redmoor wood was also bought for the tank ill get some pics up asap :good:

here is a pic with the new wood added. if i total the amount ive spent on wood i think i would have a heart attack.......

you wouldnt believe that all the wood in there is redmoor. what a colour difference between old and new :/ it will soon all look the same though :good:

Never mind the cost of the wood lol those L200 arnt cheap either

It all looks good though, especially the blue swarm of the Cardinals :good:

the numbers are still dropping a bit with the cardinals and ive no idea why  maybe they are just a weak bunch as ive kept cardinals before with great success

the L200 were £34 each but stunning fish  and the new one seems to be out and about quite a bit so its a plec that i actually see :)

im not going to add anything else for a while until im happy with the cardinals and then maybe try upping their numbers again. if that doesnt work out then im gonna go for black neons i think as these are a fish ive never kept that im sure will look great in a decent group.

Black neons were the first tetra we kept. They do indeed look great in a planted tank. They shoal loosely, but your angels should tighten this up a little. They are also deeper bodied then cardinals so should avoid being eaten. Get some pics of your new plec please.

the cardinals are very loose as well tbh unless spooked. when the angels go in it will change that i would imagine.

my camera is broke so the only pics i can get are on my phone which arent ideal but ill try :good:

well so much for not adding anything else :grr:

just came back from MA with 5 x bolivian rams :good: and an L309 :good:

that defo is it for now for a few weeks :)

stocking now is as follows -

cardinal tetra - unsure how many now but about 25-30
rosy tetra - 13
bolivian ram - 5
L200 - 2
bulldog plec - 2
L309 - 1

with 8 x F1 leopoldi angelfish waiting to be added :good:

ive never seen an L309 before but they are stunning. almost panaque like in shape and pattern but with slight orange seams to the fins. apparently according to planet catfish they stay quite small too :good:

sorry the pics arent great but all i have is my phone camera at the minute :/

i think that i have decided to sell the cardinals on as my filter keeps getting trapped air from the foam added into the strainer. i dont have a grow out tank so cant put the smaller ones anywhere else so its for the best they go.

ithis may sound a bit daft but i also think they look too bright for the other fish in the tank and dont really complement each other very well! felt weird putting that as this is the reason people buy cardinals and neons etc

i might up the number of rosy tetras and add the angels as soon as the cardinals have gone
