Why Are The 'clubs' Being Closed?

So now we've lost 2 of the most knowlegdable members all because the mods decided to randomly close the club threads.

Tough luck, really. I've been here since 2004 and have seen many, even better members leave for various reasons (that I generally agree with).

The threads don't really hold any information; just a lot of photos, and I can't see them ever having any real value. If you want to share your information about a fish, then at least do something vaguely helpful by writing it in a proper format in the profile section. Take the oscar profile- there's just one post from 2004 that could definitely do with improving. If you came up with something better, I'm sure the mods would be able to do something about it.

Sorry not got time to read the whole thing but I'm with the Mods on this one,

The club threads are backwards to how a forum works.

An example of what I mean is that there is a Livebearers Club where people post everything possible about livebearers all on one post which makes finding stuff much harder. There is a Livebearers forum so why not just post in there? Then everyone can see new posts easily without having to spend hours sifting through one thread.

The best solution for "popular" clubs like the Oscar club would be to have an Oscars Subforum but for anylike the livebearers club in the livebearers forum - they are just not needed.

well im actually beginning to feel a little sorry for the mods...can see there point and how hard a desicion it must be to keep everyone happy. so am gonna try and shut my cake hole now(!)

Thanks for your understanding, Spishkey. Even if you don't choose to say another word about it, your thoughts will be taken into consideration. Thanks for the input.

I think for people wanting to show there fish there should be one of these in each forum.Always like checking back on that, and updating any of my pics etc.

That's a good idea too. We have one of them in the Corydoras section too.

People are leaving because the mods have locked some 'clubs' I'm sorry but that is just sad.

I truly do not understand what people are getting so aggrieved about, having 'clubs' within a forum totally defeats the purpose of the forum.

There is a livebearers section why do we need a livebearers club? If the Oscar club is so popular lets create a sub forum for the oscars like the one that was created for the Bettas.

There is no point in clubs within a forum the cons far outway the pros.

Whey, where have all these sensible people come from
Personally I don't think oscars are popular enough, but if that will keep people happy.

Perhaps people are leaving because they feel a few peoples immaturity has now spoilt what has been a good thing. Minx and Nelly have been very supportive and helped me a lot and it is a sad day when something that has been a lot of fun is suddenly deemed 'bad' and taken away and in doing so alienated members.

Iam sorry guy's i only started the "oscar club" as a joke which seemed to take off, the idea was so all infomation could easily found in one place.....Then again just for fun i started the "channa club"litterally so again people can get infomation they require much easier than searching for hours and in lots of case's finding wrong infomation from googling....
The part about bosse's and club secertarys again was a bit of light hearted fun....I never for a minute thought or asked for it to be pinned....

And in all honesty I think half the problem was the pin...
Come on, who pinned them

I would like to refer to my earlier post RE: What is the point in them? (see post for full details).

I do however have to wonder how many people in this thread are 'genuine' and how many are fully paid up members of the 'lets all jump on the Suggestions bandwagon and agree with whatever is at hand no matter how stupid it is' club... Perhaps they should make a thread...
As I have been debating, there is no real point.Yet for no actual reason others still think there is.
Talked about this to another member via pm a couple of months ago as well.

Glad I am not the only one out there :good:

I hope there not deleted, I was thinking of getting a new tank and getting a severum, there is valuable information on the club threads.

Something that can easily be answered via a few PMs a new topic, the forum thread search or google. I have to agree it's getting to the point that there is an unbelieveable amount of clubs. Mine as well be called "fish clubs" instead of "fish forums" at the rate it's going...

i think its more of the personal experiences and knowledge that people have that actually own these fish rather than say google where alot of it is very contradicting and say different things
that sort of thing yes i know you can get it just by posting but its also you can relate to people about the fish you have as they have them too and share things about their experience hints and tips in a casual conversation about the fish

if any of that makes sense lol im not too good at explaining things lol
