Why Are The 'clubs' Being Closed?

hehe true, yes i have done a couple of profile foe certain species of fish, however not everyone looks there...anyhow iam not really fussed,just having my go...

To be quite honest the only thing I think is spoiling these forums are what appear to be the newer "younger " member swho feel the nee to latch onto any discussion and have a pop at other members without using any discretion at all.

Unfortunately, that is a problem but it always has been and always will be. The problem with them when the clubs come along though is when they decide to start their own club. As I posted earlier, we had at least 3 clubs that were started by younger members who appeared to have little or no knowledge of the species. If a new member comes along and sees advice that the founder of the club has posted, they may give that advice way too much credence than they should simply because they are the founder of the club thus you wold assume they know what they are talking about.

Mods can set up the section and choose which clubs they want for the forum and then choose knowledgeable people (who know the specific type of fish) to help run each club and post info, pictures ect. (sort of like a "boss" but rather someone to give support and structure to the club)? No regular members can create new threads, but can post in existing threads? Just a thought anyways...

Sounds good to me Should also all have a list of resources on the fish in question as in Nelly's club, then I can see some use.
However, I don't have a clue how the fish in question would be chosen..

i'm not going to lie and say i've read every post on this thread and hell, it may have already been said,this is about the livebearers club.i don't belong to any club on here and most of the time i'm just a casual observer,but my first impression when i saw the livebearers club was i was back in the 4th grade,and trust me,that was a long time ago.unfortunatly for the legitimate clubs this one is making a mockery of clubs in general and it put the mods in a difficult position,so just give them time,they'll figure it out.

We absolutely appreciate feedback and opinions. This is still a hot topic among the mods and I assure you we are working on a solution, hopefully we'll have an answer for you soon. -Dawn

I like the idea of a clubs section, maybe that is the answer - put the established clubs there and see if requests come for others - maybe restart the 'problem' clubs like the livebearers ina more mature way?

As to the clubs, it affects me not, so I don't really have an opinion Don't really have time to read all 11 pages either

Just thinking though I cannot see a way to decide which fish would have a club..And it would take a lot of traffic away from other forums.

i dont really see the point in adding more sections to the board...i thought this forum was no generall chat...well all the hobby forums are general chat through the back door.

everytime we add a section the forum becomes less efficient. just like the new classified section, which IMO is worse than the old one, there are too many categories.

back on topic, i dont see the point in the clubs...if you want basic information on a fish, search for it. if you want people personal experiences, search for it

Dear Jim,
Could you fix it for me so that there's either oddballs, or predators, not both? All predators are oddballs, a lot of predator posts are put in oddballs, it doesn't make it more efficient, it makes it less efficient. There aren't really any oddballs that you wouldn't put under predators, and the few that are left don't exactly warrant a whole forum to themselves.
