Just interested in what card you got? Mine is getting long in the tooth but is still strong... I paid for longevity.Just spent an arm and a leg on a new GPU for my PC, went back to Team Red after 10 or so years.
Praying on a good quality delivery now![]()
I can't comment on matt but i went with a 4070 (before the refresh) - but a lot has to do with screen resolution and tolerance. I use a 1440p monitor and i think the 4070 is fine for it but my tolerance is fairly high - if you go 4K it is another matter. The thing is that i use true monitors - some people hook their pic up to a 4K 70 inch tv but for a monitor (27-30 inch) i think 4k has little value - but others insist otherwise.Just interested in what card you got? I figure that the thing will last me quite a few more years.
I do dual monitors... or I should say I used 4K OLED TVs that I can also do TV. Actually a 43 inch Samsung is my normal computer screen and the 55 inch LG usually fr TV and/or movies. I run my system on a 900 PSU. Actually my card can do a virtual 8K but I don't see a real difference.I can't comment on matt but i went with a 4070 (before the refresh) - but a lot has to do with screen resolution and tolerance. Anyway I too am curious what Matt went with - in my case i also have a micro itx case so there is a limit on card size - not to mention that psu for a case this size are more limited and some of these new cards want a mile long slot and 1k psu which won't play nice with an itx case.
It appears that card sells for over $1000. Yikes… glad I’m not into gaming. My hp i3 chromebook does all I need to do.. mainly websurfing and youtube videos.I went with a 24gb 7900 XTX this time around. I’ve had a 2080ti 11gb card for a couple of years now and was looking into the 50 series but a few things put me off. The improvement from the 40 series wasn’t a big jump like previous gens, the melting power connectorsand the skyrocketing prices. The 7900 cost me £840 brand new which is cheaper than the leaked prices of the 5070ti’s I’ve seen, which are due to be on sale later today. Of course RT and DLSS won’t be present but I don’t really use them much anyway. I’m looking for a card than can do 1440p High settings on most games which this one does do quite well.
Tbh 4K has never interested me much, 2K is perfect for me. I remember the time when both team red and green were boasting and going for 8K performance.. how quickly that fire got put out. That’s another thing I may have to look into upgrading next is the PSU I’m only on a 850W unit and the minimum requirement for this card
I also want to get back into VR. I have a HL Aylx save from 2 years back I need to finish
I know AMD have the new line coming up, but if they follow Nvidia’s pricing there would be no way I’d pay that much. Intel GPUs on the other hand are something I’m following closely and is good to see more competition in the market for future upgrades.
I know what you mean. Every time I come here, I am bewildered by something, be it Latin names for species, and now electronic marvels.I know I’m getting old. I did not understand a word Matt said.
