Enjoying new growth on my plants. Go check out my thread on my 29 gallon journal and help me decide what to stock!

I'm looking at the radar... If things slide a little bit more to the east... it's going to be a thick Monday morning.

My car is under again...
And my back door is condemned...
Snow is blowing, had to call a towing...
My back is racking.
Already hurts in my head.

My traction aids flew away, what a pitiful day.
Cause the car is slipping, Everybody's ditching...
And I'm just trying... To get out of the way.
My bumper is plowing, You can ear that scratching...
Just can wait for having, All that Sh*t go away...

Did water changes on three tanks at 4 AM this morning. A deep gravel clean on one of them. Linda cleaned inside fronts on two and all scape on the third. It was then time to face the real chore.

We git 5 - 6 inches of snow and at 6AM it was turning to a real fine rain. Went out and did removal only to find a very thick coating of pure hockey quality ice under the snow. It was a chore and by the time the drive and walks were cleared it was 8 AM sleeting very hard. Came into hot Grits with yogurt slushed in and a banana on the side.

Church was canceled so we played a game of chess and observed the fish for a bit. There are over 30 Koi Sanke swordtail fry in one tank, 30 plus panda molly in another and about 40 Black Lyretail that were born yesterday hanging out in a net box on the side of another. Pretty amazing. Linda appears to be doing well with her breeding projects. I did net a few of the new fry when she was not looking for the Angels to snack on. She is OK with that so long as she does not see me do it.

By noon the slush, perhaps an inch had about 2 inches of snow on it and the weather fella is telling me it is going to rain in a bit, about an inch, and then get very cold. Out I go and the snowblower will not move the junk. Keeps plugging the augers and I finally gave up when a shear pin let loose. Into the barn for the tractor and back blade and off I go. I normally avoid the tractor for snow removal because it scrapes gravel into piles and also makes ruts. No worry today. The gravel is fully encased in a layer of ice.

Snow and ice now plowed, brine where the drive meets the road and at the garage aprons, a thin layer of sand on the rest of the drive and a new shear pin in the snowblower. Finished at about 3 PM.

Currently getting a light freezing rain that is supposed to turn to snow then stop around 7 or 8. Temps low teens predicted. My last chore is to set up the two generators and get them ready just in case. There are power outages around us but so far so good.

This is a very bad storm, and I will likely be scraping with the tractor early tomorrow because the dogs have Vet appointments and Linda has a follow up on her back and head injury.

Probably have not mentioned it before --- I really dislike winter. It is very hard on these old bones.

Very high velocity winds this afternoon. One gust blew out a transformer a few blocks away and now we have a blackout. Multiple large trees have fallen across the road blocking the energy company’s attempts to reach the blown transformer. Luckily I bought a generator system last Spring. So far it’s working. My 7 tanks have power. I do not know how long this power outage will last. Hopefully I have enough propane. I’ll purchase more tomorrow morning when my fuel company opens.

If you have high end Light strips...

Don't plug them on your generator. no.no.no.

I use make shift lamps with cheap 5k bulb if it last too long.

I hate the sound of freezing rain, but I'm listening to it. I don't have a huge choice, with the high winds. For the people here up the Atlantic coast of North America, we seem to be having a shared experience.

I love my dog very much, and that means I'm going to have to go out there when I finish this. If she tugs on the leash, I'll be water skiing. The fishroom is sealed up to retain heat, just in case, and once I get back in here, I'll be staying dry. It isn't cold now, but it'll be -18 later tonight. I need to sharpen my skates.

Cheese, I'm near MTL and while it still snows and blows, it shows a tendency to liquefy.

Hope the machinery will be operable tomorrow morning... Because I'm not looking out until 😅 then.

Here in the Northeast, we had 5 inches of snow today and 3/4 inch of rain on top of it… even the snowblower had trouble clearing it. And any slush left on surfaces is going to feeze rock solid as it will be in lmid 20s for the next few days. 45 mph wind coming on tuesday. And possibly more snow on thursday. Isn’t winter great. :S

I think we are getting the same storm. Up here in North New York we are being brutalized. The wind is now howling, 25 - 30 steady and once in a while a screaming gust, but at least the freezing rain stopped. I believe the wet stuff is done for today, but we are supposed to be low teens.

AND YES --- Another storm is likely to hit again on Thursday. Seems to be a cycle -- Thursdays and Sundays.

Tomorrow after the dog and Linda's medical stuff I will be raking snow off the pond house roof and my workshop. The other structures have seen worse so not going to worry about them.

She is now at peace with the other angels in heaven. It's now time to celebrate her life.
Stay strong in these trying times.

“The clock of life is wound but once,

And no man has the power

To tell just when the hands will stop

At late or early hour.

To lose one's wealth is sad indeed,

To lose one's health is more,

To lose one's soul is such a loss

That no man can restore.

The present only is our own,

So live, love, toil with a will,

Place no faith in "Tomorrow,"

For the Clock may then be still.”

― Robert H. Smith
This is now my favorite poem . It deeply affects my feelings and mood today . The clock is indeed now still .
