What are you doing today?

sewing patterns applique kits, hoped to sell a treadle sewing machine, a 66 redeye I've restored, a 66 redeye handcrank may have sold if the guy calls tomorrow, and a kenmore I hoped to sell. I also have a 50 cent basket with polished stones and stone bags, Good thing I had cheap stuff because none of the expensive sold except maybe the handcrank. My friend had a lot of her wall art and it was nice but it went nowhere.
that is one pretty 66 treadle in the pic. I recently had to install a new feed dog in one of them for a 96 year old lady that still uses hers to make her quilts. those old heads are solid as a rock.

We got a ramp built so I can take She Who Must Be Obeyed out today in her wheelchair . She’s got a hankerin’ for Panda Express and I have to go to the store for salt for hatching out BBS . The weather is nice today . 38 degrees now and the skies are clearing after an early morning rain . Life is good .

Woke up early to watch the CS Major final in Shanghai today. It was an entertaining match with Team Spirit 🇷🇺 taking the trophy and the $500k reward home. Moved onto WCs and quarantined new plants from a delivery. Sadly Buprafenzin is used on them so I can't add them straight away . Mentally preparing for a busy Christmas week at work now

Thank you. I got lucky and got 2 with Red eye 66's with good decals, one in a cabinet, one I made a handcrank. But I have another 66 without good decals I may end up keeping and using. They are rock solid machines

I tried to think of a way to resharpen those singer feed dogs but nothing I could come up with would fit between the points to grind them.

I remember that treadle singer machine well, as my grandfather had one. Don't know what happened to it when he passed many moons ago. What is a machine like that worth these days?

Here’s the December full moon rising at 5:35 PM . It is at 8 degrees above the horizon and is 99.1% illuminated . It is rising at 58 degrees East Northeast . This is the northern most point the moon rises during an 18.6 year cycle . This will not happen again until 2042 .

$50 if it's not frozen up. In a cabinet, maybe $75 if the cabinet is in decent shape. The refinished one in the refinished treadle table I had priced at $250 and it did not sell. The shiny handcrank sold for $100 - operational, cleaned and oiled inside, finish coated with shellac/boiled linseed oil to protect decals, and I ordered and added a handcrank. I have a table for it, but the treadle table needs re-veneered, and I gave the shiny cabinet I refinished for my plain machine to the other red eye with decals that had a cabinet that needed work. They are interchangeable for sure. Base box on the handcrank is now painted black, with a lacquered lid of special plywood but I'd have to take another pic and the machine is at my friend's tonight

I thought they’d be worth mire than $50 for the treadle model. Doesnt the machine fold into the table and then hang upside down? What is the purpose of the small bobbin thread on those machines?

a restored treadle, oiled, with decals (most don't have those), refinished cabinet and legs, maybe $250. I'm hoping to get $250. Yes they fold down into the cabinet and hang sideways, as long as the cabinet is not falling apart. These machines and cabinets are 100 years old. A featherweight portable, you can get $500 to $1000 for, they are very fashionable right now. I would not pay over $100 for one, and that would be to restore and resell. Bobbin size on a 66 is about the same as on a modern sewing machine. Shuttle machines are a whole nother story.

This fiddlebase is in good condition compared to many that are on Marketplace. It will take months to find a front bobbin plate but at least the handwheel and works aren't frozen up, the shuttle moves, the bullet and bobbin are in the shuttle. The table is missing both drawers, the stand is rough, but woodworking is not that hard, this one doesn't fold down and the coffin cover has a crack in it. The wood on top of the coffin case is half gone and peeling off. This was $50 but it can take years to find a fiddle base, it was built in 1888

This an odd one. Mabel the dog has been charming a dogless young couple on one of her walks, and they've started talking a lot with my wife. Mabel the dog is a lousy conversationalist. Anyway, they are coming by for a coffee later, to visit the dog. I never vetoed the friends my kids made, so I guess it's the same for the dog.

Meanwhile, I'm finalizing a fish order, with a couple of friends joining in on it. I have to go by the airport later in the week, so why not get a box sent there so I can grab it in passing?

I'm listening to old Lighting Hopkins and drinking espresso that would stand my hair up, if I weren't bald. We got our heat pump repaired this morning, and this warmth concept is a pretty good one. Mabel's other friends, the four larg deer that sleep behind the fishroom are going to have to stay outside though.

I harvested BBS today. First time ever. I fed a 10 mL pipette full to my 12 day old Apistogramma cacatuoides fry. My breeder tank has not completed the cycling process so these fry are living dangerously in a South American tank. I temporarily removed the two most cunning predators but there are still several other species in the tank with the fry. By the next spawn the breeder tank should be ready for guests.

I saw a marketplace ad - everything in barn must go, $12. There was a sewing machine on the list. It appears to be a shuttle, manufactured by National, no idea what brand will be on it, and well a picture is worth 1000 words. I inquired did it sell, if it was $12 I could maybe afford to take a chance on it. he offered it to me for $100, and i said I'll be happy to let you keep it. Barn finds are often rusted solid on the inside
