What are you doing today?

I'm afraid you lost me there. These are A. agassizi "double red" from The Wet Spot.
It is a weird thing but people use the genus name for their fish when talking about most species of apisto but of course with over 100 such fishes there is total difference between many species though some have very common traits. I esp hate when someone say "apsito does xxx" or behave like yyyy since they are presuming that all species in the genus behave the same or do the same thing which of course is non-sense.

Worse all these people who never seen a fish before read about 'apisto' and then go buy some weird species they promptly kill because they don't understand what is needed for that specific species.

All true. Species wasn't all that important to what I was saying so I didn't bother.

A trip down south sounds wonderful, but I haven't had one lately. Perhaps you're confusing me with one of our members who has been blessed to go on a fish collecting expedition? And what is D37 indirria? Google isn't turning anything up, but you have piqued my curiosity.

(there are different colour morphs found in the wild). Inirida is one of them which refers to the catch location.

Wow, those are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Well if you go south and catch some get some extra for me ;) Another lovely fish would be a. lineta:

Btw these are both blackwater fishes and i'm not sure how they would do in a non-black water environment. In the spring an importer is going to check if they can get some D37 but i'm not having much hope.

There is another very uncommon very nice fish called Apistogramma sp. "D33"

We always add a rooibos teabag to Badgerling's tank during a water change to maintain the blackwater environment. I think the water change is what provoked spawning. It had been a few weeks between water changes, early winter schedules being what they are, and it was a few days after a big WC that she noticed the bambinos.

I would love to pull a @GaryE and go on a fish collecting expedition, though if given the choice I'd much rather go to south and central Asia than Central and South Americas. But I wouldn't turn down a trip that way if somebody offered to pay the way.

McDo's doesn't have fries. It has reconstituted wallpaper paste with salt on it.

Cichlids don't have frys either, even in a salt free environment.

My heart goes out to every teacher in this lead up to Christmas. That last day before the Christmas holiday was always one of the hardest in our school. The kids were oh so ready to launch, like reindeer.
