What are you doing today?

Washing and drying quilt fabric. preparing to sew.... and rotating chicken eggs
One of my winter sewing projects is a quilt . A real manly one with fish on it . SWMBO has lots of quilts around but they’re all pretty girly . I was looking at different batting at Joann’s and some of it is downright expensive but I think it would make a nicer and warmer quilt than that polyester floss batting .

I’ve had one of those round black BBS hatchers for a long time now . I set mine on top of a seedling heat mat (3 watt) and I get a hatch in about 18 hours . That thing is perfect if you don’t need a lot of BBS . When I need a lot I use my San Francisco Bay Brand 1 liter pop bottle hatchery . It’s that one that aerates from the bottom and you drain the nauplii out through that airline . It is the cats meow . I got it from www.brineshrimpdirect.com
This is the one I have, the thermostat is a handy feature.

I don't bat mine if I want to be able to sleep under them. This is Texas, the one I batted with heavy blanket weight batting I'd have to move to Canada to use. I just quilt to a sheet, maybe with flannel between.

We went to a huge, community Christmas concert yesterday afternoon up at the Catholic church. The community choir, the high school and college choirs, several church choirs, and college brass ensemble, an amazing organist, and even the pipe band. The Badgerling sang in the high school choir, and the whole thing was really nice.

People generally dress up a bit for this event, so I put on clean blue jeans, a nice plaid shirt, a tweed vest, and some cleanish, black trail shoes. Asked Mrs. Badger, who was dressed rather sharply, if I looked OK. She looked me up and down and said, "Sure. You look like you could officiate a wedding or go fishing."

It's good to be a guy, sometimes.

If it's a fish quilt, I think it would only be right to bat it with filter floss.

If anybody needs a little Christmas cheer, I'll be playing with the college brass choir in concert tonight (along with hand bells, choirs, and some other things). You can live stream it here, starting at 7 pm Mountain Standard Time. I'll be the one with the big, silver euphonium. 🎶
