What are you doing today?

May I suggest getting up, doing a bunch of stuff, then going to bed later this evening.
I watched Bones all afternoon while cleaning and oiling a 66 redeye sewing machine. a friend and I are getting a booth in a December craft sale, the prettiest need ready to sell. this one will be a handcrank. today I think I'm digging weeds and maybe planting some stuff, got a little rain last night. I no longer have a capital t on this keyboard, but it was amazingly cheap

Woke up late. I got up earlier and had some tea. I felt less energetic today and so I decided just to lay down for a bit. Apparently, I fell asleep. And I just woke up an hour ago. I guess, I've spend too much energy yesterday that I feel less energetic today.
Pity there isn't a way to delete all messages by a spammer with a single click. Of course then all of my messages would probably end up in the trash :(

More serious where one scammer goes others follow so i would not be shocked if you end up with a gazillion messages to delete next month.

Went to bed late last night after watching “ The Best Years of Our Lives “ (1946). Got up early at 4:00 AM and set the clocks to standard time . Went out and did my five mile run and put a whole chicken in the oven to roast when I got back . Now the rest of the day is free to do whatever I want . I believe that I shall contemplate my navel and then eat chicken . Life is good .

Not for the chicken !!!

I have just finished a marathon session deleting spam posts - thank you to those members who reported them :good:

The member has now been banned and all his spam posts have been deleted - all 24 of them.
Running a small forum myself I detest spammers. At least I don't have to worry about spam-bots as long ago I patched a CAPTCHA routine I wrote that is, to say the least, a bit unique. Haven't had a successful bot registration in over five years. Sadly there is no real way to block a registration put in by a human. Here is the anti spam bot routine I wrote. It just works and is a lot easier than CAPTCHA or re-CAPTCHA. I detest the click the images version.

Do you have to remove each spam post or does your software have a feature I love in mine. When I ban a user I have the option to keep or delete all posts by that user during the ban process.

Probably the spammers I detest most are the 'tag teams' where one registers asking legit questions and then another registers and answers with spam. Actually this is probably just one person registering twice.

I can see the ISP that was used for registration for any user. If I go to the user admin I can also use a built in app called Whois that will give the location of the user's ISP so I can see if watching is needed. This is nowhere near 100% but helps if a a new user's post is questionable but can't fully be classed as spam. No insult intended to possible member here that are in China and Russia but if the first post is iffy, and their ISP is in either country, they are history.

I remember having some issues with WhatsApp bots a couple of years back. They were basically asking for the usual.. banking info, addresses, gift cards, and any form of legal documentation. After about 6 bots I had enough so I decided to use a link IP grabber and disguised the link to one of the many banks the UK has access to. It didn't take too long before the owner of the bots decided to click the link. I got an IP to an address in Beirut. After a few minutes of digging, I found a Facebook page of a man from the area and his rather nice-looking house. After cross-referencing some pictures he uploaded I found a match to the general area of the IP address through google maps. I then decided to play along with his "scam" for a little while longer and when he asked for photo ID I sent him his picture. To cut a long story short I got blocked by all those numbers and never got any Scam Spam after that :)

One other thing I'm doing today is suffering due to assembling a neighbor's electric bicycle yesterday. I just don't have the legs I had when I was much younger and doing multiple sets of leg presses with 530 pounds which was a bit over triple my body weight. Now, at 70, my legs are just not the same. ;) One would not think that putting together a bicycle would be stressful for the legs but these electric units are heavy. Shoot, my electric trike weighs in at 110 pounds. Trying to hold the thing up-side-down while mounting wheels tore up my legs. It was actually a LOT easier with my trike as the dual rear wheels held it upright without effort from myself. I had to quit before totally done as my legs got so bad that my hands were shaking. At least I got him far enough done to where he just had to mount the front and back lights.

As an aside he got a bad bike in my opinion.
1) Rear light is not integrated with the bike's electronics but is just a cheap battery operated unit with no intensity increase when brakes are used. With my trike, if either brake handle is used, the back light (interrogated in the main electronics) doubles in intensity. Also he can not even turn on the rear light while riding. He has to stop and flip a switch on the light to turn it on.

2) they didn't even send him a charged battery. Put the thing together and then the manual tells you the battery is not charged and it takes ~6 hours to charge. At least say that first so you can be charging while doing the assembly. With my trike the battery was received with about a 80% charge. When we got to the battery aspect I could see the disappointment on his face as, when I quit, the bike was ready to ride without lights but he could not even try the thing as yhe battery had zero charge.

A few weeks ago, I watched the interesting movie "Ivan the Terrible" from Sergei Eisenstein. My favourite part is when there are several people singing in the final, as a king of opera. I like these European movies.

These are some drawings I made a few years ago... maybe I already sent some of them here before, so I am sorry in case of any inconvenience.
