I saw certain neolebias fry this morning - not many, but there is life! They are soooooo tiny. I'm not sure even my rainbow fry foods aren't too big, so I threw clumps of java moss in so they could graze. Getting them to spawn is a sort of victory, but raising those fish isn't going to be simple. They're still hanging on the glass and only leaving it for short swims as they absorb their yolk sacs. Only one chugged by me freeswimming.

You have to wonder how many millions of fish fry appear each year in tanks, but are never noticed by hobbyists. These fish came here very young. They were adult size by late winter and have probably been laying eggs in small numbers daily ever since. I had them in the same water, same basic set up as I maintain them in, with only the addition of plastic 'craft plant sheets' to make egg eating harder.

So today, a short kayak, a long dog walk, a Costco run and the start of my 'winter's coming' garden work, which I keep intending to do.

Schlepping back and forth between home and the hospital . Trying to get a short run in every day . That’s my mental and emotional safety valve .

Feeling sickly this morning. Trying to decide whether to go to work or stay home and get better. It's a downside of being a teacher: It's usually less trouble to just go in and tough it out rather than write sub plans and all that. Bleah.

I think i've heard of that place - isn't it the largest kangaroo court in the usa? Btw i had a relative who worked for library of congress and had some exposure to that court but in his days while it had a lousy judge it was still a good place for litigation.

Well, I decided I'm tired of being sick so I'm going get better now. So that's all sorted out.

I usually build bookcases if I get a stomach bug. Makes it easier to fast until it passes

What I did today. dug out a couple of years worth of grass from the flowerbed on the north east front side of my house and put in the Lowes rescue flowers I bought yesterday. a couple of rudbeckia, a bayou aster (that may not make it thru my weather), couple of echinacea. And a pink mum. Those plants are not grasshopper favorites so they stand a chance. I dug up my Beverly Sills iris and potted them for now, grasshoppers loved them

I’m on a road trip to visit Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas. We are trying to visit all 50 states. After this trip, I will have only three more states to go. Had fantastic barbecue in Kansas City Missouri today. Probably the best barbecue I ever had, including my own efforts with my smoker.
