What are you doing today?

Did some more playing and shopping today.

The playing is all about the lighting on my new coffee table and entertainment center. I really didn't think it likely that I'd ever use the red lighting but it has its place. With a video of a fireplace on the smaller display the red lighting actually makes for a bit of a romantic setting. Below are a still image of this along with a link to a very short video.

As to the shopping I just ordered my end table. The base is black steel with an 'X' pattern that will match the black steel 'X' pattern on my coffee table base. The height of the table is good and the wood top and shelves should do well in matching the wood top and trim on my entertainment center.

I still am going to need some figurines and stuff to fill shelves but I think that I'm really close to done.

Here is the short video of the entertainment center with a fireplace displayed and red lighting.

If you don't want to view the video here is a still.

And last but not least, here is the end table. The surface area is on the small side at 16x16 inches but that fits the space as it is really just for someone to be able to place a drink or whatever.

Ya, and that is largely due to people getting compacent and no longer getting vaccines. Just like the flu this thing is not going to go away and is much more dangerous. Do a search on 'long covid' and it is scary. A member on my computer help forums got covid early on and is still having issues and suffering.
Long Covid is no joke.

I got diagnosed with golfers elbow yesterday. I'm wondering how this will impact my ability to maintain my tanks.

Yesterday, after I reached home from the gym, I witnessed a roadside hawk (Rupornis magnirostris). Since it's hard to this bird of prey reaching close to home, I tried to take some good pictures...

Also, today I removed some of my tank's decorations and siphoned one more time (although without changing the water as I did yesterday).

I'm trying to write an Economics article. Today is Brazil's 201st birthday of Independence Day, so it's a holiday. In our case, Brazil at the time was the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil, and Algarves, after becoming the Empire of Brazil. Later, on November 15th, 1889 there was a coup d'etat and the monarchy was abolished. Dom Pedro II, despite several failures, was a statesman who loved the country and even visited the United States in 1876.

Finishing up decorations and florals. Now for the signs. 10 days to get everything done 😱

Discovering the wonders of microsoft excel and spreadsheets :look:
I love Excel!!! If you think out of the box a bit it can do things that most wouldn't think of. For instance I have a movie library of well over 1000 titles ripped to hard drive. Yes, at least in the U.S., this is legal as copyright laws allows the creation of an archive of the original. I just sort of hedge it a bit and use the archives to view which is still legal. LOL! I had the advantage of having a lawyer close friend that served as a prosecutor and public defense but his love was copyright law.

Anyway I made an Excel spread sheet as a menu index for all my videos that is categorized by genre such as drama, sci-FY/fantasy, comic book, animated, etc.. I just pull up the menu and decide what I want to watch, click and Excel launches the movie in my default player.

Years ago I worked on a tier based commission where the higher my average sale the higher the commission. I wrote an Excel sheet to estimate my net pay and, even though I didn't include a tax schedule, it was usually accurate within $5.00. Without using a tax schedule I did a convoluted formula with a lot if if/then statements. If gross pay was within a range multiply by a percentage for net pay.

Excel is a really pretty awesome piece of work and I love it. It has been years since I've done anything really original with Excel but, if you run into issues, feel free to do a PM and I MAY be able to help but no promises as it's been a while.

Going to sit outside and enjoy the sunset, drink lapsang souchong, and read Lord of the Rings. I only drink lapsang souchong a couple times a year, and it always makes me wonder why I don't have it more often.

WOW! Lord of the Rings brings back memories. When I was a kid I had zero interest in reading; just wanted my football or baseball glove. My mother was totally devious and forced me to sit next to her and read The Hobbit out loud to her. When it got to an exciting part she would take away the book and put it on a shelf I could just barely reach. Of course I would have to stretch and get the book to see what happened. After a few times of this I was hooked and have been reading ever since.

That's quite amazing regarding your video library, to be honest when I started using excel I hated it it, but yesterday was the first day I had that awakening moment when I realized how much potential it has , just doing a simple form for shift swap requests it was amazing how much easier it was than trying to do it using Word.

Thanks for the offer of assistance :)

Just canceled my Disney streaming subscription which includes Hulu. I just will not deal with the politics. Disney has, it seems, to have decided to cut out cable contracts removing all Disney and channels they own from cable... at least Spectrum cable. This means that I lose some college football networks, normally included Disney channels and all ESPN channels through cable. Yet Disney wants to increase my streaming subscription rate in October by 20-25%. Not going to happen and they just lost my business.

Spectrum is no better as I have lost channels yet they raised my monthly rate. Yesterday I started a support chat with Spectrum and they pretty much just blew me off. Im mean REALLY blew me off. When you start a live chat they ask name and address to pull up your account. id this as it was expected but as soon as I brought up the cost increase the rep ended the chat and another came on asking the same name and address stuff. This happened 4 time before I just gave up and decided to get rid of them ASAP.

I don'y know if the actual fault is with Spectrum or Disney and don't care. All I know is that Spectrum and Disney have caused me to lose channels and, yet, want to increase my rates.

I have many streaming services such as Netflix, Prime Video HBO Max and Peacock. Once I get everything figured out to where I can get all I want, including local channels, cable will be gone from my life and Spectrum will be history.

While I really have not done keep in mind that Office is interactive between the different apps. You can actually create a Word document with all formatting you want and have it incorporate into an Excel sheet as a cell. LOL! Don't ask for a quickie on how this is done as I have never done but I DO know that it is possible.

While a bit buggy I actually have a black jack card game done in Excel. Excel is really one of the best pieces of work ever done by Microsoft.
