What are you doing today?

Sounds amazing! My mom is allergic to cane sugar and is finding more recipes for coconut sugar, I’ll have her try this one :)
The coconut sugar isn't all that different from normal sugar but it just gives your dish that little something exotic. I use cinnamon and a tiny sprinkle of allspice....I debated putting a dash of coconut rum in but I thought it would be too decadent for a humble crumble

Currently making apple and plum crumble...I used coconut sugar with the fruit for a change...can't wait for a big bowl full with ice cream melting on top 🤤 best enjoyed when kids are in bed
That... Sounds... DELICIOUS!
Got my first bait casting setup today. Only people who fish will know what that is :)
Its gonna take some learning before I stop getting birds nests.
That's like the step up from a spinning rod.
I want to learn how to baitcast...
Remember though, you have to "calibrate" the lure weight, otherwise... BIRD NEST

If you ever want to try bait casting, then kastking is a great cheaper brand.

We went hunting again this morning. I called in a bull today, which was exciting. I heard a bugle a ways off, and responded with "Hey, big boy, looking for some company?" or squeaks to that effect (I speak elk). About 20 minutes later I smelled elk and heard a couple branches breaking. By then it was getting hot and the wind was swirly, and I think he caught my scent. Never saw him but it's good to know he was there. My buddy, the member of our party who can walk like a normal person, get into a couple of them too, and found lots of fresh beds and other sign. They're in here! We just need to weather to cool down enough that they'll quit being nocturnal. Elk really don't like hot weather.

One cool thing about sitting tight instead of covering country is the bird watching. Today I enjoyed the company of some Clark's Nutcrackers (really obnoxious but amusing birds), red-breasted nuthatches, some sort of yellow flycatcher, and mountain chickadees, which are among my favorite birds. They are fun to hang out with--tiny, fearless, ready-for-anything attitude. And their little CHEESE-burger call is adorable.

Here's the only thing that was killed today. I made this shot at 30 yards.

Cowpies are easy to sneak up on, but they aren't much good to eat.

Here's your helping...I saved some of the juices from the fruit and made a syrup with toffee liqueur to go over the top of the ice cream...there is some crumble under there somewhere 😅

Spending today at the evergreen state fair :)

Hey mum, I'm just going to the fair. Jumps the fence, now which ride first?
Except that the rides are like $5 each haha

People here live in very exotic places. State Fairs, cowpie hunting...

I was out back with my geriatric dog when a group of quite large for their species whitetail deer wandered out of the brush. I watched for a bit, while they watched us. They have figured out old Rosie is no threat, and that I'm unlikely to go bounding off chasing them. My dog, ever the magnificent hunter, never noticed them.
