What are you doing today?

Your landlord should be required to call in an exterminator for health reason. You pay to have a safe clean place to live.

If you are into DIY and cooking....

eww fly paper, we can't buy that here because the environmentalists got all pissy about sticky papers being used to catch mice and rats, which is pretty bad. But the gov put a ban on all sticky papers so bye bye fly paper. Stupid hippy protesters getting rid of fly paper.

Shouldn't stop you making your own though. The link shows you what you need and how to do it...and no nasty chemicals either

Are you leaving windows or doors open which would let in all those bugs in? .. wont fumigating the place with raid (leave your house for several hours after spraying) kill most of them.

I feel for you— cant be very pleasant
Doors and windows are normally closed. They come in under the sliding doors and windows and are coming in from inside the unit somewhere. I see them around the kitchen sink, in the bathroom and by the front and back doors. They also fly all over the place and irritate the absolute hell out of me. I have killed about 100 of them today (in less than 4 hours) and they just keep appearing. I literally have a spray bottle next to my computer keyboard and just killed 2 while typing this.

The landlord and real estate agents don't do work orders and consumer protection says it is up to the tenant to decide how long it should take for a work order to be done. And it is then up to the tenant to take legal action against the real estate agent and landlord to get the work order done if it isn't done in a reasonable period of time. The tenant decides how long a reasonable period of time is because there are no set laws about how long work orders should take to be done.

There are no guidelines saying if a unit is full of rodents, the job must be done within 7 days of a work order being put in. But there are laws saying that a tenant must be given 30 or 60 days notice for an eviction. So the landlords have set times to evict people, but tenants have to take them to court to get work orders done because consumer protection is the biggest crock of crap government department I have come across. And I have dealt with lots of them that were utterly useless.

I put in work orders in January for the bugs, hot water coming out of the cold tap, no tv signal, a bathroom drain that floods, no insulation in the roof which is a breach of the building code and is apparently illegal (according to the council building inspector), and for the rats I put in a work order a month or so ago. The only work order that has been done is a plumber came out to check the drain and said it doesn't go anywhere due to lousy/ cheap builders.

The hot water coming out of the cold tap is a safety issue because the water is coming out at over 50C in summer. I actually burnt my hand under the cold water tap the day after I moved here. This is due to the tin roof having no ventilation so the cold water pipe (which isn't insulated) in the roof heats up and cooks the water. There are no building codes saying rooves must be ventilated to stop this happening or to reduce power consumption, or reduce the risk of fires caused by the roof melting wires. The water company has been called and said they only have to deliver cold water to the meter at the front of the property. What happens after that is nothing to do with them. So if I want cold water in summer, I have to go out the front and use the garden tap.

I wrote to the state government about this months ago (around March) and they haven't responded. I doubt they will because they have never responded to any of my correspondence. The building code in Western Australia, and consumer protection aren't worth the paper they are printed on. Neither is the gov

You need carnivorous plants 🤣
I used to have a heap of native sundews before I was made homeless in 2016. I lost them along with everything else thanks to the halfwitts in the Perth Magistrate's Court. I still can't get any of those turds to respond to my calls or correspondence about the issue either.

W**kers

Sadly I had to call the cops on another resident in my apartments. He was showing indications of being a danger to others. When the cops got here I cornered one and explained that he was not a criminal but, rather, a victim. He is an Army Vietnam era vet that is obviously suffering from extreme PTSD. The cops didn't cuff him or anything and did really cool. He ended up leaving in an ambulance to a hospital for evaluation.

Part of me feels bad about calling the cops but it is my sincere hope that it will lead to him getting the help he needs. I also had to protect others.

Many think that PTSD is just an excuse for bad behavior but it is a real thing. I speak as ex military. There are things that happen that no human should ever be exposed.

Oddly it isn't so much about killing another. It is about not being able to forget the death caused. It hurts forever! I do just fine but typing this still brings tears.

Not the best of wee hours of the morning...

@Colin_T is there other places that cost almost the same amount to live at as that, just without most of those issues??
Are you in a position to be able to move?

Leaving for camping in 10 days.
Turn out my Grandparents from AZ will be coming with us.
That's kind of nice and kinda not nice.
My grandpa's cool. He will mind his own business and just hang out with me and my dad.
My grandma on the other hand is a bit of a karen.
Everything will be good for the first 3 days then she will start causing trouble and it will end in a fight. Then she plays the victim and acts like the whole world is mean to her.
At least those first 3 days will be fun :)

Everyone should have a Karen in their life....having a Karen nearby enables you to vent your inner fury and frustrations in the most sarcastic way (Karen hates that, its the ultimate put-down)

I have a Karen living next door...with Elvis

Her name is actually Christine and she finds fault in absolutely everything and everyone, her memory is lousy so that makes for some seriously bad fibbing on a daily basis and she is the consumate victim and that the council (who own the flat) and everyone in the road is against her....as if we would be like that.....nah...not much...well maybe a bit...

And Elvis....no "the" Elvis has not come back....Elvis is her Bassett Hound that never stops barking and howling (which I guess, depending on your opinion of "the" Elvis, could be a reincarnation of "the" Elvis).

The constant barking and howling only interupted with "Elvis...you'll go indoors...Elvis...stop being noisy...you know it upsets the neighbours and they won't talk to me anymore" from Karen aka Christine

So yes...I know your pain with the Karen's of this world @connorlindeman . They are breeding and can be found everywhere....and the itch within your hands to wring their neck is very real

No rental properties in this country. 30,000+ people on the public housing priority waiting list (just in my state) and I'm at the bottom even though I have been waiting for 22 years. Apparently I am working my way down the list, not up.

People are living in cars and on the streets all around the country. The state governments are to blame for not building any public/ social/ low cost housing during the last 10+ years.

Looks like I'm doing my washing again. I forgot to shut the bathroom door and it was open for 10 minutes. My clothes that were washed and dry, are now covered in fupling bugs. I can't fupling believe this craphole of a place.

Currently making apple and plum crumble...I used coconut sugar with the fruit for a change...can't wait for a big bowl full with ice cream melting on top 🤤 best enjoyed when kids are in bed
Sounds amazing! My mom is allergic to cane sugar and is finding more recipes for coconut sugar, I’ll have her try this one :)
