Lets say a fish you catch swallows it and dies (happened to us before) well you won't eat it and your family wont... So it would be a waste of God's beautiful creation.
I say switch to some good lures. Do your research on what works well in your area. (I use silver rooster tails and for me they work VERY well)

Is it alive or a type of food? If its a type of fake thing its considered a lure and when fish get it they don't swallow as often as they would with a type of food or living thing (bait).
And if you mean a fly as in the type of lure then you would need a fly rod and then also learn how to use a fly rod.
My dad kinda knows how and I want to learn

Saw a guy using them in a creek with a normal pole. Seemed to work well.

Yah no. Their too small for a normal rod. There's a reason why there are "fly rods" and "fly lures"

Hmm... Weird... Usually you don't want to use a fly lure on a normal rod unless he made his own lure specifically for a normal spinning rod

He cast it into the current and it carried it down. He said it's one of his favorite ways to catch trout.

Technically, being a vegan he shouldn't even be fishing because it is harmful to animals. Just throwing it out there, but seems a little hypocritical being vegan and going fishing.

I'm vegan for health reasons. Not moral reasons.

You can use them with a normal trout rod. Wooly buggers are traditionally heavier flies, but when I didn’t have a fly rod I used them. They work great for deeper pockets.

Hm. You could try it. Sounds like @I Like Rare Fish uses it too... Me personally I wouldnt but I suppose so. Seems like multiple have success.

I do agree but I wasn't going to say anything.
At the end of the day its on his conscious if he kills a fish and won't eat it or at least knows someone who will.
