The Fashion House Birthday Nano Tank!

well today I popped to a lfs (not my usual!) and there in their coral tank they had a lovely red spot flymo blenny looking soooo gorgeous with no price on, so I asked and was told that I could have it for £9 as it had no sign on it and she didnt know what it was (she kept insisting it was a dot dash blenny!) now I know I already have a blenny...BUT as the other hasnt really got a big territory (the bottom right corner of the tank only as hes scared of the cardinal for some reason) I hope they will be ok...if not I have the 2nd tank that he can live in. SO as you have guessed yes I bought him...now he has come from a lfs that doesnt have the best reputation so I tested the sg when I got home to find it was at a shocking 1031!!!!! no wonder their stock looks bad! So he is in for a very long acclimitisation!

How long would you recommend I acclimitise him?

drip acclimation until the acclimation container matches the parameter in your DT. :good:

We need pics of your lovely finds please :snap:

---edited due to confusing verbage ....

you will have to wait a bit for pics sorry...he is acclimitising slowly ....very slowly....will be gone 10 by the time he is in the tank!

After hearing about Trods SG yesterday, when I acclimatised my purchases today, I checked the SG with my new Refractometer.

I had previously asked the lady what she keeps them at. She has always said 1.023. With the refractomer I got 1.024 at 20 degrees. When you work that out for 24-25 degrees it is actually smack on 1.023. I also use the exact same salt, TMC Pro Reef, probably why I have no trouble acclimatising from there.

After hearing about your experience today, I feel so lucky.

Liking the purchases. :good:

I cant wait to get him in the tank..... still waiting patiently though looking at a jug wrapped with a towel to keep him warm.

ok...sg the same now....hes going in...pics soon...poor tank is going to have lights on now though which will confuse everything!

they are a bit like a cross between a chimp munk and a flying squirrel, might be best to google them...Im rubbish at describing things!

Well he is in the tank.....salfin has stood his ground and defended his tunnel, the red spot is keeping his distance but is shooting around all over the place! I have had to put the feed lid back on as he keeps jumping up at the back and I really dont want a fish in my lap!

Hope he will be ok, the clowns are quite interested as well which isnt helping!

Cute, very cute. Makes more sense now. I always loved watching chipmunks as a kid.

Do you have some moonlights, if so I would drop the lights to those now, give them a chance to settle.

they are in the dark now, no lights on but I have the tv and the room light on low so there is a little bit of light. He has settled right in front of sailfins tunnel though which will cause an argument, hopefully he will move to the other side of the tank and take home in one of the caves.
